We were the fire on the moonlit skies [He'd been more wary every since he'd been arrested because somebody thought it was a brilliant idea to attack him in broad daylight. Ryuu was not looking for getting arrested again. He'd definitely prepared himself another situation like that. He wasn't going to get arrested for a second time. He already owed the Varia captain several favors for dealing with the record. It was completely wiped clean. Ryuu somewhat contemplating learning how to hack from the man, but it just wasn't his cup of tea. Arashi was a master genius at hacking into the police system to erase records.
Since that first attempt, he'd gotten the feeling that he was being watched. It was likely that Maklakov was following him and that was how he knew when Ryuu had gone shopping that day. He was counting on the other watching him that particular night. Ryuu slid out of his apartment, boxes and ring in hand, but the boxes empty. He'd released his box animal under the pretense that he was merely letting her spread her wings, over actually scouting the area and staying around in case he needed her at a moment's notice. He'd done that consistently for the last couple of nights for the most part. If he was being watched, then the watcher would think nothing of it.
He didn't particularly enjoy the idea that he was being watched, though. It made him feel weird and awkward. As long as they weren't watching his bedroom or his bathroom, he supposed he was mostly okay...he just felt weird about walking around without clothes after a shower, or in the middle of the night when he was feeling insomnia come on. It was just weird, now. He wanted this dealt with...he wasn't particularly aiming to kill the other though. He kind of had enjoyed fighting him and he was still annoyed that civilians had gotten in the way. He wanted to finish the fight and do it right. If the other was insistent upon fighting him, Ryuu would oblige, but also try to find out why he particularly hated him.
Ryuu lightly padded his way through the streets, the only lights being the street lights and the moon. He knew exactly where he was going and exactly where he wanted to be. He was being somewhat evasive, but also not maintaining complete stealth. He wanted to be followed, but didn't want to be attacked at the moment. He was heading to a specific place; Kokuyo Land. It was a place that served many mafioso battles. The amusement park was still as rundown as it had been in his grandfather's time, but for some reason, still hadn't degraded anymore. Ryuu knew it had been Mukuro Rokudo's regular haunt, but wasn't really sure what it was used for now besides a regular battle ground for mafioso.
It was currently his for the night. Ryuu took a seat at one of the benches that hadn't been wrecked by one fight or another. He pulled out both of his katana as well as his sharpening kit and was casually sharpening and cleaning one of the blades casually. The other could try to kill him, but he wasn't going to let him.

What was he even doing wandering around like this? It was not exactly what he had planned but of course Gavril. He didn't entirely know what to do about this, he wanted to go back and find Ryuu. Do anything to fucking get rid of that asshole and get his father's attention. Or perhaps approval and then he could kick his father in the ass hard, make him cry like a baby. After all he really wanted that asshole to suffer no matter how he looked at this but of course people wouldn't understand either would they? Gavril did not like dealing with all the things he felt, it was just so stupid. Having feelings and being somewhat normal. Or whatever that would be called. He was a killer so having feelings was best to be erased. Yet he failed so miserably at all of that. Pulling his glasses off as he walked through Kokuyo he rubbed his eyes. They ached from nights of no sleep but he was always on edge because of his father.
All he wished to do was forget about everything and make it all go away. But of course that meant running away or killing Ryuu soon enough. But he had a feeling his father would be upset anyway. Even if Gavril did succeed in finally murdering Ryuu for some reason or another. He didn't entirely know what to do either honestly, but he'd figure it out somehow. No matter what he could do Gavril had already wandered here. Just to clear his head, he had no other ideas in mind. Fighting was not there, he wanted a relaxing walk. Yet he still brought his weapons with him out of habit. A good assassin never went anywhere unarmed. They always had some form of weapons or various other things on them somewhere, hidden from view and in very hard places to find. Who knew where all the hiding places might be and Gavril would never be one to tell.
Maybe he did wonder where Ryuu was but he'd just not dwell on it. He had to shove those thoughts away now. Best to not let his rival or that asshole who ruined his life come into his head. Of course sadly fate seemed to have other plans, or Ryuu was just so desperate to see him again. Probably not a bad idea. It was going to happen sometime. Either by his doing or by Ryuu's, one of them would run into the other anyway. He kicked the bench Ryuu was sitting on and yawned. "Really if you wanted a date princess, you should have just asked last time. We were sitting in the same cell together. Or are you just out here running from something you can't control." He had no shame in saying anything, maybe this guy's love life wasn't working out. Honestly Gavril could care less about that. Let it all fall apart, he'd laugh then. But right now he felt a bit annoyed, he had a lot of other things on his mind right now anyway.
Really if Ryuu wanted anything he was not likely to get it here. Gavril could care less about him. Though it'd probably not matter to begin with anyway right? They were enemies and would never be anything else.

We were the fire on the moonlit skies Ryuu had been about ready to go home when his box animal confirmed the approach of the other. Oh thank heavens. Ryuu wasn't sure he could have gone home without side-tracking himself to find a bar to go fight in. Seriously though, his want to fight could definitely be a problem. He didn't even know where he got it from. Maybe it was just from being friends with people who constantly got into fights that Ryuu simply took the easy way out and he joined them. That was definitely a psychology thing going on there...but it wasn't like he was a naturally aggressive person. Oh well. He didn't know, nor care.
Ryuu casually raised an eyebrow, somewhat amused and also annoyed. Princess!? Why was he the princess!? It seemed a lot of people weren't quite convinced of his masculinity these days. It wasn't that big of a deal since he was pretty confident in himself. It was still getting a little bit obnoxious. He rolled his eyes, sending back a snide remark. "I didn't know you felt that way about me, Maklakov. Is that why you're insistent on killing me? You hiding your true feelings for me behind that? I'm so sorry, but you ain't my type, honey." Ryuu snipped right back.
It was almost like casual banter between friends, or frenemies or rivals and not banter between an assassin and his target. Ryuu couldn't help but think that they might have been able to be somewhat more civil with each other as friends...or something. He couldn't be sure, though. He had definitely enjoyed their earlier fight, even if it had been interrupted by the police at a very bad time. Ryuu rolled his shoulders in an amused shrug, rising to his feet and stepping lightly out into an open space not crowded by benches.
"I thought we'd finish our earlier fight. I was clearly winning, by the way," Ryuu stated, feeling the need to add in the fact that he'd been winning. He loosely held his twin blades at his side, contemplating the other. He did want to meet the other in blade-to-blade combat. It just sucked the losing meant losing a lot more than some of his ego, but as always Ryuu was confident in his skills with his swords, but not overconfident. The other might surprise him. At least for him. Ryuu never felt comfortable killing outside of jobs...He knew when it had to be done, but he didn't really want to kill the other. He had no reason to, besides maybe the attempts to murder him...but who cared? Squalo made several attempts at his life during training - to make it more realistic. Nobu tried to bite him to death on several occasions. As the grandson of a famous mafioso and the rain guardian of a powerful mafia family...his neck was always on the line. He reveled in it, almost. The way the adrenaline rushed. Ryuu couldn't fathom not being in the mafia. He imagined it'd be pretty boring without it.
Sure, maybe if he'd had a normal childhood and his family wasn't mafia his dad might still be alive and he'd have had a normal childhood that didn't involve kidnapping attempts and training to kill...but he honestly loved it. His grandfather had, at some point, treated the mafia like it had been a game when first introduced. Ryuu knew it wasn't a game that you played for keeps in this deadly game, but he could still have fun with it.
Ryuu stood, fairly calm and laid back with one of his katana casually laying over his shoulder. "Ladies first, princess." Tags; GAVRIL MAKLAKOV Word Count; 605 Notes; round 2 begin! And ryuu's being sassy.

Gavril could care less about this guy, he just wanted him to die so he would get all of this over with. His dick of a father was so obsessed with this kid. Maybe if he didn't kill him, he could end up turning him into a puppet instead. Give him to his father as a bitch to use for every day activities, or whatever else he might have had planned. Gavril just wanted his father to stop this obsessive nonsense that meant so little. But what about his mother, oh well she shook those thoughts away and glared at Ryuu. "Oh what, do you want to be a prince? Sorry you are way too much of a girl for that, I bet your girlfriend is better at being a man then you are." He honestly was only saying things, Gavril had no care about what Ryuu thought or felt. Without his mother around Gavril's care towards other people's feelings were more or less gone. Not that Ryuu would care.
"As if I'd ever feel anything besides the want to murder. You are worth nothing to me." He was unconcerned about what he said. But if this guy died, or finally disappeared then everything would be fine. Sighing lightly he just debated starting the fight right here. However for some reason he almost barely had the energy to do that. Or perhaps he was waiting for Ryuu to pull the strings instead. Let him be the one to start all of this bull shit, after all he'd get into the trouble then. And Gavril would be able to slip out without a problem. Gavril did not reply, he wanted this guy to die so his own bullshit life would not be so much of a stress. For once he'd be able to sit down and relax. Focus on something a lot more positive instead.
"Are you so sure about that? I can think of someone who would play with and change that mindset. But you probably wouldn't like that would you?" He shrugged a bit and just pulled the swords out, holding them in both hands as he figured this would be a fight again. Of course with Ryuu being the way he was right now. He'd probably not want to let Gavril escape this time. But oh well might as well have some fun with it. His father was likely once again creeping somewhere just waiting for the right time to strike at this bratty Vongola. "You clearly winning? didn't seem that way to me. Did you mess up some man's cabbages or hit another cop? Maybe that cop who knew you?" He was not going to let either of those things go. Ryuu had done destruction of property and it was great. Though of course he'd still rather not bring that part up. At least right now. He probably didn't need too since Ryuu likely already had an idea in his head about that.
"I think a certain little someone just wishes he was winning." Honestly he shrugged his shoulders, this was of no problem to him really. Why would it be? He wanted continue the fight, could people blame him for that? It seemed Ryuu thought the same anyway. So he'd just pin it on that boy instead if they got caught. He wasn't too much of in the mood for anything else, besides the fight. "Oh please the only princess I see is you. so why don't you start this, since you want to continue this fight so much little brat." He'd probably end up pushing Ryuu to see if he'd snap again. Just like he did about the father thing. After all that man died probably out of his own stupidity. Gavril had not entirely paid attention to those details.
But he readied his battle stance and waited. He wanted Ryuu to strike first this time for a reason.

We were the fire on the moonlit skies Ryuu rolled his eyes, the act of a bratty teenager, brushing off the comments about Silvia being more of a man than he was. Ryuu was perfectly okay with the way he was. He was in touch with his feminine side, probably from being raised by a single mother and having silvia as an almost-but-not-quite-sister. It wasn't that much of an issue to hims, but he almost felt the urge to snipe that at least he had a girlfriend to be more manly than him. He decided against it, no need to bring Silvia into this. Even if it was true. Silvia killed all his spiders for him, after all.
"Mhn...clearly I'm worth something to you if you want to murder me, Maklalov dear. You seem to contradict yourself with that," Ryuu snarked, amused. It was true though. Arashi had took at least a glance at the current jobs for assassination - even if they weren't directed towards the Varia itself, he still liked nabbing intel either way...and there were no hits out on Ryuu. This assassination was just being attempted especially for him. Besides the fact that Gavril did seem overly obsessed with killing him, more than the average assassin. And contrary to what Gavril believed, Ryuu was not about to get in trouble again. He'd already seemed to disappoint Makoto somewhat with it...and he wasn't up to disappointing people on a regular basis.
Ryuu snorted, dismissively about the crack about the cabbage and the police officer. He'd long since accepted his faults for that. He wasn't at fault for throwing the police officer, although he did blame himself for the cabbages. That was completely his fault. The fire hydrant was a little bit overkill...but whatever. "I'm sorry, but who was fighting unarmed and not even trying? I seem to recall you being armed and dangerous, but you were about as dangerous as a newborn kitten." Ryuu rolled his shoulders in a shrug, a smirk crossing his features as he shrugged his shoulder, removing his left katana from the position. He smiled some, suddenly tossing the right one into the air. It was a distraction as he suddenly surged forward, thrusting his remaining katana forward in a burst of blue flame. He would test the waters first, with the simple first form of the shigure soen ryu style. Axel of rain.
At the same moment, his box animal came hurtling down from the skin, capturing the hilt of the blade in her talons at the peak of the katana's ascent into the air. She'd return the blade as soon as he needed her to. She wasn't as combat orientated as other box animals, but she knew how to wield a katana with her front talons as well as provide a support for when Ryuu got separated from his weapon.

Really this whole situation with Ryuu was just plain annoying. He wanted to kill him already but he also wanted to play. It was just that bratty attitude of his. The way he acted like he was some child or teenager who needed a nice whipping. Maybe Ryuu's parents could take a belt, or something else to him. Age didn't really matter when someone was being punished. Honestly he felt that it'd probably only cause more annoying things between them. They were enemies and were supposed to kill each other. Or well Ryuu was supposed to die, Gavril was not going to change his mind about that right now. "Hah yea right you are just a pathetic sack of meat. Don't get a swelled head over that." This was just banter back and forth. It really meant nothing. Even if they were supposed to fight, the banter was not stopping or being avoided.
He'd make sure Ryuu got into trouble again. Even if he had to knock him out to do it. It was just rather entertaining to think of. No matter how he looked at this. At that same moment Gavril had a feeling this fight would go differently. People were not around, other citizens or people Ryuu wouldn't want to hurt. Probably a bad idea but who cared. He was not going to stop now. To be completely honest he did not care if people got hurt or died if his target died as well. Just how he had been taught to do his job though he would rather have a lot of clean kills. With Ryuu this seemed to be a difficult thing unless he made Ryuu chase after him.
"Hah you have no idea what you are even talking about. Pretty sure that cabbage scrambled what little brain cells you have left." Not that it mattered but he was ready for another fight. He wanted to see just how far Ryuu would go this time, just what would he do if he didn't have to be held back by preventing people form getting hurt. Ryuu was not tied down by pathetic citizens who didn't know how to walk the fuck away. If someone was being attacked or shot at why did people just stand there and end up dying too. Gavril wondered why he had even done that with the sword. Yea maybe it distracted him for a few seconds but Gavril just shrugged it off and looked back at Ryuu holding his own swords in his hands.
Gavril didn't bother to find an escape route, he waited for the right moment and leaned back though it hurt his back to even do this because of how over worked he was. He looked at that blade as it narrowly missed his face. He kicked up at the blade trying to knock it out of Ryuu's hand. If that failed or even succeeded he'd swing his right sword towards Ryuu's side, hoping he'd be able to cut him up.But no he knew this was not likely. He was already a bit on edge because the two swords things were just a bit new. Creating distance was not going to work for either of them so Gavril had to think of other ideas.

We were the fire on the moonlit skies "Oooh. Pathetic sack of meat. That's a good one," Ryuu started, the sarcasm laced heavily in his voice. Normally Ryuu was incredibly well behaved, but it was quite apparent that Gavril actually just brought out the worst in him. Was this the result of actually having a rival that he could have witty banter with? Not that either of their banter was actually very witty; considering that sarcasm wasn't high on the wit meter. But, sarcasm was what prevented him from going ranting about what he truly thought about the other.
Ryuu had a few contingency plans, just in case anybody not supposed to be around was around. He had a battery box loaded over the past several hours with his tranquility rain flames. He'd poured enough flames into that box to knock out a horse...granted, he'd never actually knocked out a horse before so he could be wrong...but he figured it was enough to knock out an average-sized human male. It was a good use for rain flames considering the affects they had...but now it could help him escape from arrest again.
Ryuu waved the hand holding his sword flippantly in dismissal. "Does saying that make you feel better about your own mental capacity? Does wittle Maklakov need a hug?" Ryuu stated obnoxiously, mimicking a childish tone. If it was one thing he had picked up from Arashi during their years of being somewhat friends, it was Arashi's ability piss people off in combat and fight them when they're angry and he's not. Anger tends to lead to mistakes in battle, after all. He'd been on the other end of Arashi's taunts and mockeries enough during their own spars over the years. Granted, Arashi never did that in a serious battle because the man, warped as he was, had a sense of honor at time...or they were people that pissing off was a bad idea. He didn't really know anymore. For some reason, Gavril made him act this way. He wanted a rival and it was going to be Gavril. Even though their initial first encounter hadn't been the best or even finished, Ryuu couldn't help but feel this one was going to give him a run for his money. And he wanted that. Ryuu knew as well as anybody that you learned a lot from your losses and he just wanted somebody who could help him further improve.
Ryuu charged more flames into his katana, using that to propel him slightly backwards, away from Gavril. For the most part, it seemed like Ryuu was testing him, just a little bit. He wanted to gauge some more of Gavril's skills. He'd seen small glimpses of the other's ability with the katana, but it wasn't near enough for him to be able to effectively counter his specific style of fighting. Ryuu hadn't even placed what sword style he was using, yet. He prowled for a moment, almost predatory as contemplated his next attacks. There was a glint in his eye for a second. If the other was apparently trying to counter him and had seen him fight in the kendo tournaments before. Why not do something that wasn't completely his. New and spontaneous. Well, not exactly knew...but spontaneous.
Ryuu was suddenly darting forward again, only this time he wasn't going for the frontal assault. In a degree of masterful foot work, lower body strength and acrobatics, Ryuu was front flipping gracefully over the other. Ryuu's katana rolled with the movements as rain flames surged around him, lashing out towards Gavril, working to slow his movements, as Ryuu landed behind him, slamming the flat of his blade into the other's left side. Ryuu obviously wasn't aiming to kill him, at the moment and from a closer look at his blade, at some point before he had arrived that night, he'd reversed the blade of at least one of his katana - which was probably why he wasn't making use of the other one. Offensive Form 13. Flowing Rain. It was the first addition his mother had added to the Shigure Soen Ryu style and he'd honestly, never had the chance to use it. He sort of liked it. His mother had done a great job designing that particular form.
Ryuu still had several tricks up his sleeves, but he wasn't going to reveal all his sword styles, was he? Granted...the other probably didn't even recognize the forms of shigure soen ryu. Granted, the last flashy move he had pulled off probably said something. If the other had done his research, he would know that the Yamamoto family had a specialized sword style...and that had probably been one them. Ryuu stood straight, not moving to attack a second time as he went onto the defensive to speak. "Just so you know, I won't kill you because I don't think you deserve it," Ryuu admitted, holding his blade in a defensive manner. He wanted to fight, but he almost wanted to talk to the other. Find what was driving the other to try to kill him. He wanted to know. Usually assassins weren't outright obsessed with wanting him dead. This just seemed different, more of a personal vendetta against him than anything.
Since Ryuu wanted to fight though...he'd wind up talking and fighting at the same time. Why not. He could multitask. He was pretty good at that.

"Aww did I make the little meat sack mad?" He tilted his head and yawned, play it up boy. Try to be that sarcastic little shit that couldn't do anything. Sounded just about right for Gavril but of course he kept that comment to himself right now. The lack of good behavior was not surprising. Gavril brought that out in a lot of people when he really wanted to after all. He did not have any shame in doing those things anyway. He just wanted to kill this guy and make sure he suffered, after all it wasn't going to help this situation. They were here to kill each other and make hell for each of them. Not the other way around. "Tch no, how about you just die instead? Maybe then I'll feel better and never have to see your disgusting face again." Gavril stuck his tongue out and gagged he didn't entirely like this guy. He had no reasons to like him. And all those reasons to hate him. So Ryuu should just fall over and die now.
The way they acted was almost like siblings fighting though, or really good friends that were rivals too. Not exactly a bad idea was it? Laughing would be out of the question here but Gavril might secretly be enjoying himself. He would not end up telling anyone that, he would not let Ryuu realize he might be enjoying this a little bit more then he usually would. They were enemies and supposed to be killing each other. But the fighting was fun even if he had been on a bit of a short stick this time. That childish attitude or tone would get him killed and of course with that being said he'd be laughing. If this was another situation anyway. They were throwing words back at each other, and fighting a lot. It'd probably not matter but still. Gavril had no plans to expose too much of his own skills unless Ryuu proved interesting. So far he'd had a few close calls that would make him expose things. But did Gavril really wish too.
It seemed he was going to have to no matter how he looked at this situation. Gavril hissed when Ryuu used his flames to propel himself backwards. So really they were going to finish this? Well might as well have some fun with it, since his father was creeping somewhere obviously. He didn't quite want to expose his flame based skills yet but the mist flames flickered over his hand. Let Ryuu show his hand then he'd have to do something, the flames coming along with the flip had not entirely caught him off guard. He did not move, the blade hitting his side would work for his own advantage just a little. "Not good enough." He tossed one of the swords up as it multiplied and aimed for the both of them. Before the multiple blades would hit the ground he'd elbow Ryuu in the stomach and tug away from the blade to jump backwards. He had shown his mist flames a little bit but his movements were still slow, he'd put them both in a rock and a hard place.
Gavril had been taught to never care about these things anyway even if it killed him. He was expendable. His father said that all the time. "You don't know what I deserve. He'd probably be happy if I died, sucks I have to kill you I suppose. You Vongola brats were always so soft hearted." He didn't entirely want to deal with this. It was all just so annoying to him, soft hearted people needed to get the fuck off and never come back as far as he was concerned.
He felt the pain in his side and tried to regain his state of mind. He raced back at Ryuu after the swords faded away, he didn't know if he had hit or missed but the boy's anger was starting to take over.

We were the fire on the moonlit skies "Not really. Perhaps if you'd insulted me better," Ryuu shot back in retaliation. "I could have also science'd you about the whole meat thing...but I won't. I worry that your brain might not be able to process that sort of information," Ryuu stated, complete and utterly amused at this point. The other could call him a sack of meat all he wanted! It was partially true considering the various elements of human anatomy. He wasn't going to get all science-y at the moment, however.
"Well...you know you wouldn't have to see my face if you know...stopped trying to kill me and we went our separate ways...but whatever floats your boat, I guess," Ryuu drawled while rolling his shoulders in a nonchalant shrug. That couldn't be Gavril's only reason for wanting to kill him and Ryuu was still rather determined to find out...but he figured the other would let things slip during this fight and future fights. The idea of fighting him in the future was definitely exciting because he knew neither of them would be fighting at their very best tonight because they both wanted their trump cards in place for future attempts.
Ryuu had for sure used three out of at least thirteen of the shigure soen ryu forms. He didn't want to overuse the form in battle, in case the other caught on that was the style he used. Granted, it was a perfect and invincible style...but he didn't want to be the one to undo that fact. He wanted to keep at least a couple of the Shigure Soen Ryu trump cards in place without revealing all of his cards or his ace. He saw the glimmer of mist flames and was almost confused for a reason. He'd almost expected another rain flame user like he was...but he was so used to fighting against sword users with rain flames. A smile lit up across his face as he contemplated how to deal with a mist flame user. Shigure Soen Ryu had forms for dealing with mist flames - granted, he was less capable at them because of his box animal in particular. Amaya wasn't great at 'sniffing' out illusions...she was half-bird, after all and the bird-part was her face. He'd contemplated getting a second box animal - like his grandfather once before...but had never gone through with it. He didn't want his box animal to feel replaced, after all. "Mist flames, then?" he asked after he landed his attack. "I haven't fought a mist flame user in a long time..." He didn't remember the last time he'd been up against one. He'd had a few training bouts with Genkishi in the past at the request of Squalo...but the other hadn't gone into using his flames much.
Fighting somebody with a flame he wasn't used to going up against should be fun! He felt the breath leave his mouth as the other elbowed him in the stomach and slowly move away. There were several swords above him...and Ryuu at least knew Mist Flames to the point where he knew he didn't want to be stabbed with them. Illusions or not. He stood still for a moment, calculating fairly fast as to where they would land then began moving. He'd once hated the fact his mother had made him take dance lessons, but was never more grateful for that as he graceful movements, allowed him to shift through the blades with relative ease. For somebody over six feet tall, you'd think he'd be rather ungraceful with his movements, but Ryuu wasn't. Even though he'd dropped out of regular dance lessons when he graduated high school, he still kept up on some training with it. His dance lessons and graceful movements that allowed him increased freedom for his movements was one reason why he'd picked up the name of Blade Dancer among the mafia. He tended to prefer that name over Sword Emperor. People tended to get him mixed up with Squalo, once in a blue moon.
Once Ryuu was out of his danger zone, he heard the other speak. Not about him in particular...but about another person. This was the second time he'd been brought up. Ryuu recalled seeing a severe-looking man pick Gavril up from the police station and connected the dots that they were related - probably his father. Ryuu shook his head briefly, looking at the other with concern before speaking. "A father should never treat his child that way," Obviously, for Ryuu, who'd lost his father at a young age...fathers did tend to be a sore subject. But if his dad had been anything like Gavril's, he might have preferred him dead in the first place. Ryuu barely managed to finish what he was saying before the other came charging at him.
Ryuu brought up his sword block the attack as their two katana clashed. Ryuu deflected the blade with his own, before suddenly releasing his katana. Form 5. Samidare - Early Summer Rain. It fell, only to be taken into his other hand for him to make an attempt towards the other's non-injured side. "Vongola is strong in that way," Ryuu stated easily. "I'm proud to be the Vongola's Rain Guardian. Our 'soft hearts' as you put it are what make us strong."

"As if I'd bother with that. Not even worth my time anyway. You never really are." He wouldn't complain about this, the boy had no reasons to complain. Sighing lightly he just wanted to end this stupid fight, and kill Ryuu already. Just to get along with things so he didn't need to deal with his father bothering him. His father was the bad person here wasn't he? He killed people and he wanted to own or kill Ryuu. one of both at this point it seemed anyway. No matter how he looked at it. The boy needed to focus on other matters entirely right about now. He didn't want to let Ryuu escape this time. The Yamamoto brat needed to die a painful death. Scream to the heavens though no one else would really hear him scream. Gavril might be stupid, because his father was the main reason for this. Gavril had to shake himself out of his own thoughts.
Anything would be better then this right now of course. No matter what they were supposed to be fighting. They were supposed to be fighting to the death, killing each other at the very least. Or one killing the other since nothing else mattered outside of that. He'd been raised to kill, to murder and tear people apart. Ryuu was the main target of his rage no matter what his father might desire. His father told him about killing and so on. Told him that this guy needed to die because he was involved with someone who took things away from them. Though he did not understand any of that, how could he? Gavril watched Ryuu's movements peeking for any and all weaknesses he might be able to find. Anything to just find a way to break him down, break that confidence he seemed to have. Gavril knew he needed to learn more about Ryuu.
"Such a little whiny ballerina. You really should just go back to your dance class. Put that little tutu and tights back on, I'm sure your mom loved that. My father is a bastard and will always be one." Really he didn't care anymore, he was just picking on a few things right now. Poking at Ryuu even if it didn't matter. They were not friends, they were enemies. Frenemies didn't even exist between them even if Ryuu wanted it. All Gavril was born for was to attack, to steal and take everything from the Yamamotos and anyone connected to that group of people. Of course Gavril did not understand it. He did not understand the need for revenge but it'd been pushed on him so much anyway no matter what his mother wanted. The mist flames swirled around his blade as it clashed with Ryuu's. He did not want to deal with this, the negatives and all of that stuff. All he wanted to do was shove Ryuu down. But why did he say so many weird things, positive ones at that.
The sudden release of his katana had caught Gavril off guard. He blinked and glanced at him, then brought his second blade to block Ryuu's attack. He shoved back against the blade and glared at Ryuu directly. "You piss me off so much. Just die already!" His mist flames swirled almost as if they were responding to his sudden spike in anger, he knew he wasn't handling this fight as well as he wanted. He was a bit on the lower hand here, but he'd still keep on trying to fight him to the end of his life or Ryuu's.

We were the fire on the moonlit skies It wasn't quite pity that Ryuu felt for the other. No...it wasn't pity. Ryuu hated the idea of pity. Sure, you could sympathize with somebody...that was a thing, but to pity them? No. He couldn't stand that feeling. He knew pity. The looks he'd gotten as a young child when it came up that his father was dead. Father days at school had been awful. His mother had more than often showed up for them herself, or his grandfather when he could. The other kids, his teacher, and often even the fathers of those kids gave him this sad, pitying look that a young boy shouldn't grow up without his father. He hated that look.
So no. He didn't pity Gavril about his own father, but he did sympathized. While his father hadn't been negligent or violent, he hadn't been there for his son. Gavril had his father, but it was like he was dead anyway from the way he could tell that the other way treated. Maybe Gavril was right in saying that those in the Vongola were soft-hearted...but how could somebody be strong if they didn't have anybody to fight for? If they fought for themselves, that was fine...but people were always most powerful when they had somebody to fight for. Ryuu saw it in the hospitals - patients without a family structure often failed more miserably than those with a structured family who supported them.
Where was the other's mother? Was she still around? Ryuu wasn't sure what he would have done if his own mother hadn't been around like she had. She'd taken time away from the Vongola as their Rain Guardian to raise her son as a single mother...she'd even practically raised Silvia, as well. Ryuu's grip tightened on his katana. He wanted to find out. It wasn't the fault of Gavril for wanting him dead. The way he spoke about his father was testament to that. Why Gavril's father wanted him dead was another story all together, but it was one he'd deal with when it came up.
Ryuu let out a soft puff of air at the latest insult to come out of Gavril's mouth. "Well...you know. Dance lessons helped a lot of things~ I'm really flexible, you know." He stated easily, in a matter-of-fact manner. Dance lessons had helped him build stamina, balance, as well as his flexibility. "And if your father is a bastard...why listen to him?" Ryuu knew where his question would lead. He'd spent time in the children's ward of the hospital or the emergency room. He'd seen domestic abuse victims come in and children. He'd seen enough of them return to their abusers, as well. He hated that. Why couldn't people be strong enough to leave and do something about it? He didn't know Gavril's story though. He coudln't judge him without knowing the entire story. "Those knives you threw earlier today were coated in poison," Ryuu stated carefully. "If you hate him that much...as a trained assassin you could just as easily slide a knife into his ribcage," Ryuu spoke easily, as if he wasn't telling somebody that they shouldn't go and kill their father. Ryuu had some issue with talking in such a manner, but he was a trained assassin. He knew not to gain any sort of affinity with targets. No matter who they were.
Mist flames flashed into his face and Ryuu panicked for a second. What sort of illusions would they bring him? When they didn't, he was almost confused. Just a flare of anger, apparently. Ryuu couldn't definitely understand the flames appearing when he was angry. When he'd been a young child, eight or so, one of the older boys in his class had poked fun at his ballet lessons and how girly that made him. Ryuu's flames had flared to life in his anger, uncontrolled and knocked the boy straight out cold. Thankfully, nobody had been around at the time to see that. He'd had to learn how to better control his flames, even when under duress. "I'm sorry, but I'm not just going to die! It's not like your problems are going to disappear if I do, anyway." Ryuu shot back in response. He was going back and forth between his sass and his sympathy for the other.
Ryuu knew he had the upper hand, but he wasn't about to let that get to him. Overconfidence was the downfall of many. Tch. He wasn't getting anywhere while being on the defensive through. If the other kept getting angry with him though...then it seemed like defensive was what he had to do. He hadn't shown any of his defensive cards as of yet and he still wanted to keep trump cards. With his attack blocked, Ryuu went further on the offensive and pressed forward aggressively. He wasn't going to lose. He had too much to live for to lose and be killed.

Gavril just wanted this jerk to get out of his life already. Maybe it was stupid to fulfill his father's twisted wishes but too late to avoid that. He should have already known this. Not having any luck meant he'd just have to figure out how to play his cards right, how to test this guy. Finding out more of his weaknesses besides his mother and that woman. He had to have fears or worries buried further underneath that. It was all just a matter of watching Ryuu closer and dragging it out at a later time. His father was not important, he just wanted to get him to shut the fuck up. If Gavril's dad realized that he wasn't such a failure it'd be okay. Hopefully. Perhaps it'd probably not get any better from this moment either way. Gavril tightened his grip on the weapon in his hand and tried to focus back on the task at hand. The things he really needed to do, such as making sure Ryuu did not walk away from here. Perhaps he'd get him arrested or worse.
"Yea I bet you are, sure your boyfriends must have loved just how flexible you were." He didn't really know why a guy would try dance class. Honestly did all mothers force a child into such things or was Ryuu's mother just that random exception to things. He would just have to laugh about this later. Really Ryuu in tights and a tutu was an amusing picture, though he'd not talk about that for now. Why the heck was he so supportive of this whole dance sort of thing. It was weird enough honestly. Gavril grumbled, he had to try and remember what was in the book. His brain had lost track of things for a moment. What had his father told him? His father had literally told him a lot of things about Ryuu, about Ryuu's mom and dad. All of those people in his family, it was all part of his training. But anger had clouded his mind for a moment there and it all went out the window.
Maybe he should have just let Ryuu meet his father instead. Since of course he was likely going to die no matter who he ran into. It did not have to matter to Gavril regardless at this point. "As if I have to explain anything else to you. Go find out yourself, not my fucking problem." He knew he was going to spill more if Ryuu likely pushed him so he might as well get back to the fighting. Those Vongola bastards were so way too sensitive and those sort of things anyway at this point. Too happy, too soft hearted. All of that was a bad idea in general. His mist flames could work, he sighed and just brought the illusion flames out to play. The flames started to shift into different sizes of spiders, only three at first. One small, one medium and a slightly bigger one. "You don't fight with someone who knows so much about you Ryuu." He motioned for the spiders to run towards Ryuu, he didn't think it really mattered. This was all just one of those moments they had.
The spiders looked terrified and they were not going to stop. They even tried to attach to Ryuu, crawl all over him if they were allowed too. Gavril wondered if Ryuu could stop them or would he freeze in fear. People did that when confronted with fears after all. "My father..well that is none of your concern. I hope you like playing with spiders now Ryuu. That fear of yours is going to eat you alive." He laughed, honestly this was of no concern to him as the pair clashed blades again. Let the spiders come and attack Ryuu, bite him. Though of course they were only illusions and nothing more. "Hah half of my problems would end with your death that's for sure!" Gavril had his spiders on his side for now, he could always just make more if Ryuu destroyed them.
Just how long would that last though.

We were the fire on the moonlit skies Ryuu would like to think there weren't many weaknesses to be had. Some of these weaknesses weren't exactly weaknesses, at least to him. He cared too much, sometimes and was far too loyal. He'd probably risk the world to save those he cared about. He could sometimes be too prideful, but he'd gotten a handle on that over the years. And there was also the issue with his fear of spiders...but everybody was afraid of something, right? It wasn't like it was an irrational fear. His fear stemmed from a traumatic experience involving a Cloud Spider box animal when he was just a child. Anybody would be terrified if they'd spend several hours in the web of a Cloud Spider that may have had the intent to eat him if it hadn't been ordered to detain him.
Ryuu looked confused for a moment. What did flexib...oh. Yeah. It had a lot to do with sex, didn't it? He sighed, shaking his head. "My my...you went straight to the gutter," Ryuu commented dryly, a slight tint of red to his cheeks. He wasn't as near in the gutter as some people. He didn't want to mention that he'd only ever had one boyfriend that he'd dated for like...two days, once. They didn't really get along and they obviously just hadn't been made for each other. "Are you that interested in my sex life? I'm sorry, but you can't join," Ryuu shot back, rolling his eyes. He hadn't particularly enjoyed taking ballet classes, but when he'd gotten towards puberty and his teenage years...it hadn't been so bad. He'd be in close proximity to many girls. Several of which he had dated for awhile. He'd had his first kiss with one of those girls. So many, yeah...dancing was girly....but a lot of girls liked a guy in touch with his feminine side. Ryuu had noticed improvements in his sword skills, his stamina and in his flexibility and his agility...so he was inclined to believe that they were helpful. He'd probably have his kids take lessons or he'd teach them himself, to lessen the embarrassment of people finding out. It wasn't like they made the guys wear tutus, either.
Ryuu's fingers tightened slightly around his weapon as the other challenged him to find out himself. Fine. He would find out himself! He'd better hope there were no dirty little secrets because Ryuu would find every skeleton in his closet eventually. He scowled, annoyed at the other. He just wanted to help. Why'd he have to make him helping so damn difficult! He wanted to help, but he also wanting to stand here insulting the other and goading him further into their fight. What was wrong with him. Was he going to make a new friend by beating him to a pulp first? Actually. That sounded like fun. He'd made a couple friends in the past that way. There had been several people during high school that had been iffy about his placement as the kendo team captain, when he'd been several years younger than them. They'd fought and Ryuu obviously defeated them. After that, they became friends. The same thing had happened with the university team. He'd done his initial college work starting at about sixteen, considering his grade skipping in the past had let him graduate nearly two years earlier than he would have normally and they'd reacted the same way to his age...but remembered that he'd won the national kendo tournament four years running. He didn't compete anymore, but he taught those in his team some of his methods and allowed them to use his family dojo when they couldn't use the universities.
Then there were spiders. Of course, why wouldn't there be spiders? He knew the other was probably using illusions...and he knew they weren't real...but they were real enough. Ryuu let out a groan of annoyance. "It's always gotta be spiders. I fucking hate spiders!" One lunged at his face and he let out a soft yelp as he deflected it with his katana. "That's so not cool, man." He stated in obviously annoyance as he skipped back several feet away from the spiders. There were three of them and one of them was huge. It was like the size of a pony! Well. Not that big. Maybe dog-sized...large dog-sized.
At the appearance of the spiders, Ryuu's box animal that had been circling ahead and keeping an eye out for interference as well holding the sword that hadn't been switched to a less deadly form sprang...well flew into action. Amaya tucked her wings in and silently dove towards the ground, Ryuu's other katana at the ready. At some point, she suddenly dropped the weapon from several feet in the air and let it drop, sharp end first straight into the largest of the three spiders. She then dropped on top of the hilt of the blade and screeched her victory as her lion tail swished back and forth. She pounced on the smallest, like cats do - or lions in her case. Only to miss when it skittered away from her, trying to again lunge for Ryuu's face. This left Ryuu with the medium sized spider, which was slightly smaller than Amaya herself, while the gryphon chased the smallest around like it was a toy.
"Amaya. I love you. You are a glorious creature worthy of your title as the queen of beasts, my dear." Ryuu stated in a grateful manner as he continued to dodge the medium one going after his face. "Not the face! You stupid, creepy fucker!" he snarled as he deflected it again, not at all happy about this latest development. "All spiders are evil creatures of the devil!" he announced when it made a third attempt at his face, only for him to suddenly hold his katana like a bat and smack it towards Gavril's face. "You, my friend, are a dick."

Honestly what was he even doing, he needed to be saying other things. Doing other things at the very least, though of course it would even matter now. For that moment Gavril knew they needed to fight, and keep fighting. But all he did was talk about things, talk about things he shouldn't. This witty banter stuff was not supposed to be happening now either. No matter how he looked at it either. For him this whole situation was rather bad, he didn't entirely know what to do. Or how to go about these things? Gavril had a mission, killing Ryuu had been that mission he was trained for from the beginning. No way to get out of that now and yet he still felt that it might not be a good idea. 'Remember the mission. remember he has to die. Don't get close to him.' Those words rang over and over again in his head, they were his not his father's words. A simple thought such as that was nothing too bad right? They'd be able to deal with it.
Ryuu wanted the fight, Gavril wanted it. Or was ordered to want it. No matter what he had to do it had to be done sadly. Or Obviously. However he wished to look at it at this moment. Tightening his grip on the blade he watched as the spiders went for Ryuu. He was aware of how he felt about them, so of course Gavril wouldn't mind tormenting him a little bit now either. "Nah you just went there, I only laid a small path for you. You are so easy to trick or tempt into taking bait aren't you Ryuu?" He laughed. Really just why? Why did he feel like he was a little bit happier for a second there when he knew he shouldn't be. This was a fight to the death not a fight for fun or just because they wanted it to happen.
Was he interested in any sex life? No he wasn't. He did not care much for Ryuu's sex life. It seemed to almost be rather stupid now that he thought about it. "As if, that is your life. Not that I want to be involved in your sex life, it's not exactly my cup of tea I'm sure." Gavril had no plans to get that into Ryuu's sex life it was just his cup of tea to begin with. The idea and image of it was just enough to make him throw up. The sass was there though and it amused him to no end honestly, this was a game between the two. Even if it was supposed to be about murder instead of playing games with each other. Gavril did not spend a lot of time on the whole ballet thing. It seemed annoying enough anyway. The boy did not want him to find anything out about him. Not now, it was just pointless for Ryuu and Gavril to be anything but enemies.
Gavril hated that he had to use his illusions right now. What good would it do him? Of course he had picked at Ryuu's fears and a few other things right now but still. Was this really okay? He shook those thoughts away and motioned for the spiders to attack again, at least that little one was distracting the box animal. So what if his giant one had died. That'd be fine. He could just make more if he was smart about things. "I know you hate spiders, so let's see you dance your way out of this one pretty boy. Maybe you'll find out you have some raw talent." So what if it wasn't cool, Ryuu would have to deal with it. They were not friends. This was about one person dying and the other living to go on with a different life instead.
Gavril leaned back out of the way of the blade and jumped away from Ryuu. "Really try harder young man. I'm not a dick, I think you are." He did not really care, he was amused watching Ryuu and the box animal freaking out over the spiders, or at least Ryuu freaking out over the spiders.

We were the fire on the moonlit skies Of course Ryuu wanted a fight! He'd been raised around fighting and swords and he'd grown to love competition and battle overall. He didn't care much for the life-or-death battles, but competition was his element. Granted, this was technically a life or death battle because the other wanted him dead, but it didn't feel that way. If it had been any other assassin, Ryuu would have likely already ended the fight. He was fighting because he wanted to and not because he had to. Ryuu could very well end their fight by killing Gavril and being done with him all together.
A laugh! Ryuu got somewhat of a non-mocking laugh out of him for their banter. For some reason, it did sort of make him happy. Maybe he'd be able to get the other to open up eventually. Even if it wasn't right then...it could be done. Ryuu had that laid back personality that just anybody could love...well as laidback as somebody obsessed with fighting could otherwise be. He had an easygoing personality that was easy to like. His grandfather had been much of the same. It was that easygoing personality that gave them some of the charm and charisma that made them natural assassins. "I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about," Ryuu stated evenly and flippantly, blowing that next comment off completely. At this point, he was deciding he was done with that topic.
Because the spiders were another topic all together. He hated them. With all eight of their legs. And their beady little eyes. Ugh. He hated spiders. Insects he wasn't a huge fan of either, but spiders were his worst enemy. They were all plotting his demise and everything. Not near as bad as that one Cloud Spider he'd encountered when he was a child - he was pretty sure that one wanted to eat him or lay eggs in his brain or somthing. It had been creepy as hell. He wasn't sure what happened to the box animal, but never wanted to see it again. After like two hours in that web - nobody had bothered to get him out because he wasn't going anywhere at the time, somebody finally freed him.
"You keep calling me pretty boy, yet you say you aren't interested," Ryuu stated, amused. "You know, emotional repression isn't good for your health." At this he suddenly ducked as another spider sailed over his head. "Tch. These things are just going to get in the way," Ryuu sniped in annoyance. "I thought you wanted to fight sword to sword and not hide behind your little baby arachnids!" As another spider lunged for him, Ryuu gave a surprised yelp as he swung his katana at it, rain flames shooting out from the sword in the form of a blade. It cleaved the illusion in half as it hit. It was yet another form that had been added since his grandfather - Cleaving Rain. Just a simple swing of the sword and a blade of rain flames...
Ryuu growled in annoyance, ignoring the other spiders. He knew letting them get to him would be the death of him. He couldn't allow it. Amaya would cover his back because he trusted his box animal to. He charged forward again, thrusting his weapon forward for another axel of rain attack.
