Personality

One of a long line of spear wielding Japanese warriors, his entire family are very serious about the art of Soujutsu and are diligently training every day of the year. Raitaro is frustrating for his family for two reasons, one is that he's incredibly skilled so naturally the others all wish to excel as well to better him. The second is that he never $%^&ing does any training, it's like the years of practice have distilled down into the laziest but most effective spear-fighter in the world. Instead he spends all his time chasing after girls and occasionally mopping the dojo's floors as a vague form of practice. The one upside is that he's pretty immune to pain and discomfort so his 'friends and family' spend a lot of time relieving their frustrations by whipping the crap out of the supposed 'natural'. His natural ability to use flames is also annoying (and pretty damn surprising as far as his family were concerned) but what may be most irritating is that he genuinely believes he could be a rockstar. His endless practice on the guitar may be a testement to the sheer waste of potential Raitaro is. A huge amount of his personality is defined, sadly, by the loss of his mother and the naturally idiosyncratic dynamic of the Inazumas, but despite his usual attitude he's taking a more pro-active attitude towards the Spiaggia now and the group is slowly cutting ties with the Mafia and Crime world due to his own conscience.

History & Misc.

Raitaro's mother, Saya, the Spiaggia Secundo was killed in action in an attack by a prominent family and the Mare Rings were lost leading to Spiaggia's dissolution. But, with the surfacing of the rings once more, Raitaro's father Shinnosuke caved to pressure from Saya's few remaining friends and restarted Spiaggia with Raitaro at it's head by bloodright, much to the annoyance of both of them (given Spiaggia was formed precisely to prevent this happening, it's a little annoying for everyone). While they're forming up relatively strongly, it's mostly a mix of people who are descendents of former guardians or friends of Rai's he considered tough.

Rai's been using his spear since he was able to walk so his skill level is frankly ridiculous, as is his pain tolerance to HILARIOUS levels. He's the middle son and has both an older brother and younger sister. Both of whom train more. A lot more. The only member of his family who actively LIKES him is his grandfather, who is also a slacker and girl-crazy. To the dismay of his father, both grandson and grandad are more talented than him but prone to sneaking off to perv on girls. He's also fond of beat em ups so thinks he's a Karate master as well as 'the world's greatest guitarist'. Basically, he's convinced he's great at things and completely ignores his natural talent. While he still slacks off, he's had to utilise his skills more and more lately and the reputation of Spiaggia as a whole has been inadvertently improved by his actions fending of would-be usurpers to the territory.

He's kind of a good leader in a sense that he just trusts his sub-ordinates more than he probably should and so far they've all proved more than worthy of this trust. Sheeka is his right hand because he has a greater knowledge of the Mafia world (and Raitaro loudly declared Hachi a 'traitor' for getting a girlfriend first) but all of his 'Guardians' are essentially just friends he thinks can be responsible for the Mare Rings. Noticably, Spiaggia's organised crime scene is non-existant since Raitaro takes no part in it so they technically aren't even a crime family any more. They do still have underlings but they're usually just sticking around because they like the organisation or have a soft-spot for the dysfunctional duo leading it. Sheeka's various troubles were a source of almost cliche interaction when he first arrived with Raitaro being a slightly more poster-boy example of repression but the two resumed where they left off a while before Rai accidentally found and re-activated the Mare ring.

He has a strained relationship with his father owing to the two of them missing his mother who passed away 10 years ago, the shared loss driving a wedge between them. It's ironic but they butt heads so much because of how deeply they both loved her.

Recently, since Rai regathered some of the rings, he's had encounters with odd cybernetically enhanced fighters and has defeated a couple bearing the slogan of MOSCA. These machines must be coming from somewhere...

Flame Attribute & Abilities:
Raitaro's natural flame is the green Lightning Flame, meaning he's naturally inclined to hardening himself for defence and piercing for attack... which is a shame since he so rarely utilised these abilities that he can't use it to anywhere NEAR the standard expected of him.

Undead Body

While not the same as the Arcobaleno Skull's ability, it is worth mentioning that Raitaro's is pretty damn close in application as a result of his subconscious flame usage. Because of his personality, Raitaro is subject to collossal amounts of abuse but rarely appears to react to it. Some assumed this was the result of comedic effect but the truth is far stranger, it seems his ability to conduct Dying Will Flames has meant his entire body is constantly being coated and soaked in solidifying lightning flames. This can be best demonstrated by his frighteningly high pain tolerance and the fact blows to the head seem to just bounce off his far stronger skull, sustaining gunshot wounds cause large bruises but don't break the skin. While it's pretty useful defensively (as in, his entire body can sustain injuries usually reserved for taking down a tank) there is an offensive plus to it as well. Because his body is incredibly solid he's able to strike with greater ferocity and is comparable to fighting a man made of metal.

There is a downside to this, while it doesn't take very much of his flame energy, it is always on and the more trauma he survives the weaker it gets and the less flames he has to use. Raitaro doesn't tend to use his flames very often because at his current level, it's difficult to even open a box weapon before he begins to feel the strain. It's also only as good as his willpower, meaning if he gives in then it's easier to damage him and attacks with Dying Will Flames are only weakened rather than completely endured. On the plus side, if he ever learns to control it he could switch it off and would likely have a much larger pool of Dying Will Flames to use for abilities.


Weapon:

Rakuraku (楽楽)- One of his family's personal heirlooms, originally used by his mother Raitaro inherited it years ago. It resembles a Japanese style Yari with a green pole which is perfect since it's what Rai normally uses, the blade itself is not the usual flat blade but is a jagged edge resembling, suitably, a lightning bolt. Tactically, this actually offers some advantages as the serated edge serves multiple purposes in combat, most particularly that they hurt like heck. Rakuraku's actually a nickname Raitaro uses (it means comfortably, easily) the spear's real name is Kaminari (神態 while Kaminari means lightning, the kanji mean "god's appearance"). If you channel Lightning Dying Will Flames through it the tip will change from regular steel to Lightning Flames. These can be hardened and sharpened to allow the spear to cut and pierce things steel usually can't or to make the attacks electrocuting (and non-lethal, as Raitaro often likes to do). It's also possible to store the whole spear in his Mare Ring which is handy. There are other spears that the Inazuma's possess, but oddly they seem to predate the Box weapons, most of their weapons seeming to be from before the new weapons were popularised.


Ability:

Raitaro's abilities are all advanced skills in Inazuma style Soujutsu, meaning he can use them with weapons other than Rakuraku but their effectiveness is seriously hampered, only about 50% as effective. They also all require one post set-up while he adopts the stance needed for the waza.

Hitotsu no Waza: DENKOUISSEN (lit: Flash of Lightning) Rakuraku's special attack is to allow Rai to travel at incredible speeds and, in his own words, 'ride the lightning'. Only good for one strike, it's one strike that is a flash like lightning which earned him his name. The exact speed isn't measured but it's pretty impossibly fast. After each blow it has to 'recharge' direct from Rai and this takes about 2 posts in cool-down with Rakuraku and 4 with a different spear, He has to adopt the correct stance for the technique before so 1 to prepare, as with all his moves.
Noticably, this technique can be used with other spears but they lack the ability to channel the hardening aspect of Lightning Flames and so shatter with every use. The other handicap is, even though it's incredibly fast, Rai doesn't want to kill anyone so he never goes for death-blows unless the situation is incredibly dire. With Rakuraku's ability, he's realised that the main reason this works is the Spear turns into flames during the slash helping it to endure the movement but also meaning it's non-lethal. Amusingly means that when Rakuraku impacts it's literally a flash of lightning so it'll usually shock opponents rather than cut them

Futastu no waza: Hekirekiuzi
(lit. Thunder-clap Maelstrom/whirlpool) an ability Raitaro inherited from his mother, it's a tricky technique and heavily relient on using Dying Will Flames which is why Raitaro hasn't attempted it. The user takes an open stance with the spearhead pointing at the opponent before releasing as much tension as possible and usually emitting Dying Will Flames through whatever means they have available (ring, weapon, etc), the technique itself is a flurry of spear thrusts of incredible strength and speed, compared most easily to a gatling gun. It functions best with Lightning Flames due to the pressure the weapon goes under when in use and adding the piercing quality. The name comes from both the spiral pattern the thrusts can take when used continuously and from the fact the final thrust creates a sonic-boom by pushing forward at such a speed that the impact often sends opponent's flying.

Now, naturally there are two flaws to this which both make it limited in usage. One is, strangely, range. The move requires 1 post to set up as Raitaro assumes the stance and begins emitting flames giving anyone with good sense time to get out of the way. If you stand 10 feet away from him, Raitaro's spear is 6 feet and he can shuffle forward 3, but moving more than once breaks both concentration and stance so the technique breaks. The second is it uses a lot of Dying Will Flames to continiously harden, sharpen, and fire the thrusts forward and Raitaro isn't known for his resolve. If he isn't 100% resolute the move's effectivness drops, unless he's completely motivated the move lacks the sonic boom at the end and the speed is reduced by enough that it's possible to counter (at full power, blocking or evading are the only options). It takes 5 posts to recharge after use as well due to flame consumption. Obviously, when done without Rakuraku, the spear breaks after a few thrusts and is noticably slower still.


Equipment:

Rai mostly improvises weaponry as he's reluctant to bring a medieval weapon to a street-fight, but he has got a pretty handy beaded bracelet from his grandpa which can detect Dying Will Flames. Its 14 beads in a row, one for each of the 7 flames, and the appropriate two glow when near someone with DWF.
