A COLD RAIN IS FALLING Rika brushed Ryuu's blue locks of hair out of his face after putting a blanket over him, the other having passed out, asleep, on the couch where she had left him. He had tried to stay awake, but the stress of the last few days finally caught up to him and he'd conked out. Ringo was outside of the house, and she could hear Makoto's footsteps and that of his daughter's upstairs. She sighed as she stood up straight, brushing her own hair out of her face. Makoto probably hated her, and Ryuu, for not telling him about the mafia and their positions within the Vongola...but they weren't supposed to tell. Makoto had been one of the few people that she interacted with outside the mafia and she liked it that way. There were never any expectations for her to live up to when it came to Makoto. With the mafia...Rika was expected to be the poised, mature former guardian of rain, the daughter of Yamamoto, the wildcat of the Vongola. With Makoto she could have been just Rika. Just Rika and not have to worry about acting dignified like she needed to be with certain other mafioso. Sure, there were the few she could loosen up around...but the majority of mafioso, especially thoughts outside her family, expected the Wildcat of the Vongola. Not a doting mother with a habit of forgetting things, a complete and utter fangirl, and a ditz. Granted, there were those within the mafia who saw her as a ditz because that's how she came off to come people. She specialized in seduction and infiltration and most men did prefer ditzy, airheaded women they could easily take advantage of. Rika wore a mask that she didn't need to wear around her friends or her regular family and she liked that. If Makoto had known all along that she was in the mafia, that she had killed people and didn't bat an eyelash at it...would they have still be friends? It wasn't likely. She hated to admit it, but she had been selfish when she didn't tell Makoto. She'd just lost her husband - very nearly her own life, and nearly left her son without both of his parents. She didn't want to drag Makoto into the quagmire that had been her life at that time and then...when he left, there had never been a reason to tell him. There had been even less of a reason to tell him when he'd come back and his job revolved around the mafia. Rika stood up straight, took one last look at Ryuu's sleeping face before heading out of the house. She glanced up towards the light on the second floor of the house before shaking her head lightly and setting off, her skills not having rusted in their time of no use. She slid an ear piece into her left ear as she dropped down on top of a rooftop, putting the station to the Varia station. "Heeey Araaashi-chan. Got that info I asked you for?" She asked as she took a seat on the edge of a rooftop, watching out over the nighttime city. It took a few moments and she nodded, headed off again. He'd given her the license plate of the car and a bad description of the shooter, but not much else. They'd done a pretty good job at avoiding the city security cameras he'd just hacked into...but she knew a general location now. The car was parked in a back alley when she found it and there was a man matching the description taking a long drag of a cigarette. "Found you..." she climbed down, her flexible body easily and silently making its way down a fire escape. She was above him and suddenly launched herself over the side and landing on his shoulders. His struggling pitched them forward, but Rika had been expecting that. Her hands found the ground and she rolled forward, hurling him into the alley wall with her legs. She was on her feet a moment later, her husband's glaive held lightly under his chin. She knew that many assassins would rather die than be caught, so holding it a small way away from his neck would allow her time to react to him attempting to impale himself. "Found you, fucking rat." She sheathed the weapon on her side as her foot pressed his chest back against the wall. "I can make this either really easy...or incredibly difficult..." she spoke pleasantly, crossing her arms over her chest and using them to subtle holding her amble bosom up. "You might get something else besides your life out of it..."
"Why would I tell you anything?" Rika dropped down, straddling his lap slightly. "Because...you seemed to have failed, my dear." She ran her fingers through currently red-colored hair, her subtle use of her mist flames alternating her appearance so she looked nothing like Rika Yamamoto at the time. "I saw Ryuunosuke Yamamoto as well as Makoto Hanamura alive and well earlier tonight..I've been...keeping an eye on you and your friend's petty attempts at killing them..." she was pressed against him now, pinning his hands the ground on other side of him. "I believe that this job requires...a woman's touch, you know? Alas, even I don't know who has put this hit out..."The man's face was bright red. "I...uh...can't...say...assassin's word, you know..."Rika's bottom lip jutted out in the cutest pout that she could muster. "I want to try, though...I have to know who the employer is to do a job...how about we split it - the same way you and your friend did...and you'll get something else as an added bonus?" She fluttered her eyelashes at him. "Oh...ohkay. I uh...his name...Maklakov.""Gavril Maklakov?""Oh no! Not him. His father - the brat has failed at every turn to kill Ryuunosuke Yamamoto...so Makalkov Senior is taking matters into his own hands..."
Rika smiled brightly as she rose to her feet "Thank you kindly, good sir? Your reward?" The small mist flames fell from her form as she thrust her deceased husband's weapon forward through the man's chest. "Killing you quickly," she removed the weapon and stepped back. That had been rater easy...but then again. Ryuu wasn't known to go that route when it came to information gathering. Now she just had to find Gavril and get a little bit more information about his dad. Ryuu had gone on about what a precious cinnamon bun he was...maybe it was time she saw her for herself what a 'precious cinnamon bun' he was. WITHOUT YOU, I'M STRUGGLING, MY LOVE

Gavril learned not to expect sleep. He rarely ended up being allowed to sleep. Because of the task he had at hand he couldn't. People were trying to kill Ryuu when that was his job. It was his job and nothing else would get in the way. No one would take his prey from him. The boy was only here taking care of things, trying to figure out what else he could do. And who else he had to take out. Gavril was starting to murder people completely without care. Or wait it'd always been the way. After all he was born as an assassin, a person who would kill other people. He had nothing else to do. The boy felt so tired. He'd been working hard on all of this stuff anyway. 'W-why am I doing this? it's so weird...I hate him. But I have to kill people trying to kill him. It doesn't make sense.' Gavril shook it off and went to focus on something else.
More so stalking his prey. The guy was close, he could tell. The fear had been written all over his partner's face as Gavril killed him. The guy had bled out before he could even turn around. Before he even had a chance to get anywhere and do anything. It was not likely going to matter either was it. Perhaps he needed to shrug it off, then deal with something else entirely. Gavril was wearing normal clothes, though he was using his hospital form. He didn't care all that much about anything else. There was no real reason to worry about it. Or think about any of it to begin with anyway. "Where the fuck did you go you idiot." He was hardly in the mood for this, just what the hell was he supposed to do.
No one was allowed to touch his prey. But someone was here. A girl, it looked like a girl anyway. However he'd still rather not talk about it. He just kept on walking then looked at her. Watching as she worked. He was covered in blood but this didn't even matter now. None of it was even the slightest bit important to begin with anyway at this point. "Using mist flames like that huh. Well aren't you an interesting little girl." He was just being a bit grumpy about all of this. However with that whole thing being said he did not know how well it'd end up going either way right.
Perhaps, all he'd do is end up getting himself killed. Or have to kill someone. Sighing lightly he might as well relax here at the very least.Leaning back he crossed his arms over his chest waiting for her to speak. Or at least say something more then murder someone or just talk about her being covered in blood in some form or another.

A COLD RAIN IS FALLING Even while somewhat distracted by her prey, Rika could tell she was being watched. Whether or not it was from a friend or foe was yet to be told, but she always knew to be on her toes. She wiped the weapon on the man's pants, casually before letting it drop in a non-threatening manner. The weapon had originally been a storm glaive, Akira Yamamoto's weapon of choice outside his archery hobby, but Rika had since modified it to be a rain box weapon and she used it outside of her katana to keep people from recognizing the sword style of Yamamoto Takeshi. When the presence moved closer to her and a male voice spoke, somewhat either amused or just outright grumpy. The words made it seem in more amusement, but the tone made it seem grumpy. Rika let out a little snicker as she rose, the mist flames having fallen away from her form. She grinned, almost lopsidedly. "Little girl? Oh honey, I'm flattered that you think so," Granted, some of the alterations she always made tended to lean towards high school girl because men loved a young girl who was inexperienced...it all depended. Her long lashes fluttered above crimson red irises. It was hard to discern age, but from her previous commentary it was probably safe to assume her being at least older than the teenager she somewhat resembled. She leaned back against the wall, carefully watching the other. He didn't look like the description of Gavril that she'd been given...so it wasn't him. Who was it. She held her weapon loosely, in a non-threatening manner as she gauged the danger level of this new member to the party. "I'm curious...since you've clearly already seen how I work...I'll ask outright...who are you? Are you one of the assassins being sent after Ryuunosuke Yamamoto and Makoto Hanamura...because if you are, I can guarantee you won't like the consequences..." She maintained a steady tone - not letting her voice waver with emotion at the mention of her son and friend. She wasn't outright saying her affiliation with the two...but nor was she denying it. One could almost assume she was closely related to the two, based upon her attack on the corpse lying next to her as well as her line of questions. If the other attacked her upon that assumption, then he was her enemy and she could assume that he was also a hire, whether or not she answered him. If they continued a steady banter like this...then maybe he was somewhat safe to her. She had to know for sure, though. She wouldn't risk her son's life on the off-chance that somebody wasn't an assassin out for his head. Oh Ryuu...what sort of trouble was her naughty son getting into anymore? He'd always been a little bit of a troublemaker as a child - what with his habit of getting kidnapped when he was younger...granted, those had sometimes been her fault, for the most part. She couldn't help it if she got distracted by something else and Ryuu just happened to wander off! He liked to say that she 'forgot' him places and while she was rather easily distracted, it was mostly because her son was a wandering. She had often considered getting him a child leash, but since he'd still manage to get lost somehow...it wasn't a huge deal. WITHOUT YOU, I'M STRUGGLING, MY LOVE

Really he didn't need to judge her. He knew who she was, Rika. The mother of the boy he wanted to kill. They worked together sometimes. Well him and Ryuu, it was all part of his disguise after all. However at the same time he'd rather not talk about it. Knowing what else he could do was not exactly something he wanted to think about or dwell on anyway. Gavril dropped his sword as it just vanished into mist flames. It hadn't technically been real but for the people he killed it likely felt real. Shaking his head he only thought about other things. "I know you Rika Yamamoto, you are Ryuu's mother. I would not bother attacking you. Hell all I did was kill those assassins. He's fun to fight, I'd hate them to ruin my fun." He was not lying about that. He had no reason to lie about those things anyway. Gavril wouldn't bring this up to his father.
His father did not deserve or need to know that he'd met Rika. He was not sure he wanted to even talk about it either. Since of course it'd probably only make his job ten times more complicated. Killing Ryuu would likely not be enough for dear old dad anyway of course. "So don't try to kill me, I wouldn't want to target someone who did nothing. You have already had enough..." Of course he was not sure he should say just about anything. Gavril didn't let his appearance melt away yet. He was just not the type to instantly do that here. If she wanted to see through it then she could try. But however he was still going to try to keep a lot of his own secrets. Better that way then letting someone get under his skin.
"Pretty sure you know me too don't you. You were asking about my father after all." He didn't entirely care if she knew about him, so of course he'd just have to figure this out in one time or step or another. Something. Gavril felt so confused right now. The stress was starting to get at him as long as he stood here. Gavril did not know why he stayed around, maybe he should have left. Found something else to do at the very least. It couldn't have hurt to do so no matter how he looked at those things anyway right? This woman was a fighter. She had been fighting for more of her life then Gavril had so he wouldn't test that now. He'd just stand here, see what she'd do.
Just what was he getting himself into? Admitting things like this might just be part of his little game. But of course Gavril was far from sure of it. He just tried to clarify things to himself after all. Anything to make him feel less guilty perhaps.

A COLD RAIN IS FALLING Rika cocked an eyebrow curiously as she took in his words and his appearance. They definitely didn't match. The words made it Gavril though and at that point in time, she did recall that he was a mist flame user. "Gavvy-chan! Just the 'precious cinnamon roll' - Ryuu's words, not mine - I was looking for." She stored the weapon in it's box and casually draped an arm over his shoulder. "Actually...I'm quite frankly surprised Ryuu didn't come to the conclusion that it's your father being a total dick about everything...but then again..." Rika mused lightly, but didn't finish her thought. She figured by now Gavril knew what a one-track air-head her son was. Not that she wasn't...but you know. She could have more than one tracks when she felt like it! The fact that he was attempting to murder her son didn't really seem to bother her...because Ryuu was having fun and he clearly wasn't dead at this point in time. It was clear that his father definitely had something to do with it, once she thought about the situation at hand. Oh god. He was precious. She gave Gavril an interested look for a moment, contemplating something. "You know...if you keep this up, I might think you actually care about Ryuu being alive..." she stated, complete and utterly innocently. She wanted to add onto that, but decided against it for propriety's sake. She didn't need to scare him off at this point of time. "But then again...my own father was friendly with a guy who nearly killed him...and Tsunayoshi-sama became good friends with Xanxus-san, Mukuro-san, and Byakuran-san...so I suppose I can't judge people who attempt to murder each other and start slowly becoming a thing." A thing? Wow Rika. What an eloquent way to ship it without actually saying outright that she shipped it. "But you're totally not allowed to get between him and Silvia...because then I'll kill you..." she stated evenly, her cheerful tone dropping into a deadpan in a second. Rika tapped on her earpiece in her ear, her voice drawling out easily. "Ara-chan~ Found him...I seem to have made a mess, as well..." She stated rather evenly, noting that a puddle of blood had coagulated beneath the corpse and stained the wall behind him. "I've done worse, though..." she conceded after a low groan of annoyance came from the other and when some choice words came out of Arashi's mouth on the other side for making him do work for something that wasn't his problem, Rika chimed cheerfully. "Thanks!" before shutting him off and pulling it out of her ear and shoving it into her bra. What? Boobs made great storage places and sometimes, people didn't think to look there. First things first, though...before a member of the Varia showed up. Rika moved back to the body and started rifling through his pockets, not at all perturbed by looting a corpse. She found the gun used to shoot Ryuu - which she unloaded and placed within the rain box it had come from. She was pleased to loot a C-ranking rain ring which she added to her bag of rains. She stood up, finally wiping the blood that had splashed into her face away and hiding the blood on her with a thin layer of mist flames before returning to Gavril and wrapping an arm around his shoulders and leading him out of the alley, pretending that the two of them were some sort of star-crossed lovers for any who seemed to be around. "And we're walking...and we can talk and walk at the same time. I'm assuming there are probably a few more assassins floating around that I need to hunt? Or did you leave a trail of corpses already?" she teased. "Because that would be helpful...but now I'm rather interesting in assassinating your father...tell me about him and his interest in my son...or yours, for that matter. You two would probably make great friends, besides the whole 'I will end you!' spiel you're on. I do hope you're going to end that soon - you seem like a nice kid and I'd hate to have to kill you for ruining my chances at grandchildren...okay? I'm sure you've heard the rumors about me...so you know I'm not kidding about the whole killing you thing. I've been fighting longer than you've been alive, my dear." Rika was thinly laying threats, but almost in a somewhat jovial manner for the most part. WITHOUT YOU, I'M STRUGGLING, MY LOVE

Really he wanted to just make all of this go away if he could. Make the thoughts disappear or something along those lines. However with that being said Gavril had already given himself away to her, she knew who he was now and there would be no avoiding it. No matter how he looked about those things. Either way he wished that he could make sense of things anyway. "Tch I'm not any precious cinnamon roll. The hell would he call me that for?" He grumbled, honestly Ryuu was so annoying. Why the fuck couldn't he just shut his damn mouth for more then two fucking seconds at the very least. Gavril did like having him around but still. At that same time he did not entirely want to think about those things either. Why did he have to think about this guy? And his mom of course. Seriously just why did she call him that? Why did both of them call him that?
He was a killer, he wanted to murder her son. And not let him survive or anything along those lines. However she didn't seem to care much about that. With that being said he almost wondered what would go on from here. He was not trying to think about things too badly at least. However would it even matter in the long run either. With a small shrug of his shoulders he just glanced over at her. His mom couldn't really walk around anymore, she was always in the hospital bed when he saw her. So this was a new thing to him. He was still wearing his hospital uniform and his disguise. The blood that covered his clothes was nothing new. He'd wash them when he got home. Claim it was from working at the hospital, they had a few bad cases and majorly destroyed bodies perhaps.
Not that he killed any of them or anything. He wouldn't admit that to anyone. Neither of them would bring those sort of things anyway. Strangers heard about it and then it'd end up causing a lot more problems. They'd have to end up dealing with other disasters. Which was not something Gavril wanted for anyone that he might secretly like. Rika and Ryuu being in that list. "Ryuu misses a lot of things doesn't he? Or is this just one of those rare moments for him?" Gavril didn't entirely mind this. But he was sure that his father might yell at him for it later. Not the first time but that was all depending on if he actually got caught with how things had gone. He shrugged again and just glared over at her. It was half hearted glare after all. Yea maybe he did want Ryuu alive. But as if he'd fucking admit that shit.
"Tch as if. Maybe I just don't like people taking my prey away from me. I don't really care about dating your son or whatever you are implying. You want those two to give you grand kids after all anyway. Why would I bother even if I did like him." Which he didn't, Gavril was not sure he'd even want to have much to do with this family after that. After all that had happened. He just yawned and crossed his arms over his chest. He didn't even care about how this was going honestly. Now he would just try to focus on other things entirely. Her being that close to him was a normal thing wasn't it? Assassins had to look normal when they weren't working. "The job is already done. The bodies have been disposed of as well. I am good at my job even if Ryuu is still alive. But you don't care. You are happy he's alive and not dead." He didn't bring up her husband or any of that. It was not his place.
"Tch it's not even my path, it's something father wanted. So you want to deal with that you go to him. He's mr. jealous of that fact that his kid doesn't have rain flames. He's not happy that I have mist flames or some shit. Whatever the fuck his problem is. So really why aren't you killing me? It'd just end at least part of your problems." He didn't get it, he didn't get that family at all actually.

A COLD RAIN IS FALLING Rika laughed as Gavril denied his status as a precious cinnamon bun and chimed in an overly cheerful manner. "The more you deny it, the more it becomes true..." She paused for a moment, thinking about it. " Which is also sort of the definition of a tsundere..." She mused, even adding in her knowledge of anime. Granted, precious cinnamon rolls did tend to be the tsundere types, right? Right. She could classify him as both and it was great! Ryuu was so right about this one. And when Gavril asked about her son and if he just missed a a lot of things, Rika had to go and think about it. "A little mix of both..." She commented dryly with a soft chuckle. "He's a bit of an airhead when he wants to be. It's a wonder he gets anything done..." Then again, Silvia had a lot to do with his responsibility streak throughout his life. She wouldn't even let him skip school during grade school days. She stormed into his room on more than one occasion to drag him out of bed and to school when he hadn't felt like going. Rika had skipped a lot of school during her own youth as well, even being friends with the spawn of Gokudera who was relatively responsible when it came to things like that. She met his gaze for a moment before her own eyes wandered, flickering over the hospital uniform and she shook her head slightly, realizing that he was probably in the same hospital that Ryuu was and was stalking him. She didn't know whether that was somewhat romantic, creepy, or both. He also had a mother there, didn't he? Ryuu had mentioned it to her in passing. She felt bad for Gavril in that sense, but she wouldn't pity him about it. Rika wanted to say something sassy about Gavril not being good at his job because Ryuu was still alive, but she bit her tongue and didn't say anything. She was grateful that he had taken out the assassins after Ryuu...under the pretense that he didn't want anybody else killing Ryuu first. Rika sighed slightly over this fact. She didn't want anybody killing her son...but Gavril wasn't the type of person she honestly wanted to dispose of. She'd done a lot of horrible things in her life, but for some reason...she just didn't feel like Gavril deserved to die. If things with Ryuu started getting out of hand, she would step in and deal with him...but for the time being...it seemed okay. "Of course I'm happy he's alive...why wouldn't I be? He's my only child..." Memories flashed back, of her waking up from the coma after losing Akira, only to find out she'd not lost one...but two members of her family. Ryuu had been the only thing to keep her together and she cared about him dearly. There had almost been an unhealthy attachment for her and for him after Akira's death and it had taken a lot for her to hand him over to Squalo to train him...but she knew it had to be done. She always would worry about him, though. When it came to assassins, she knew that Ryuu could handle himself...but she also worried about him. There was no helping it. They were in the mafia and there would always be something dangerous happening, especially with the Vongola. Even with civilians, there was always problems when it came to their own safety. There had once been a day where safety had been locked away at the back of the brain, but now...everybody was afraid or paranoid about something. She was afraid the same thing would happen to Ryuu that had happened to Akira. He cared too much and could sometimes trust too much, but that was just like her father that it almost hurt. Yamamoto trusted Kaoru and had even saved his life after the other had very nearly killed him. Rika just hoped that it would never stab Ryuu in the back. Rika gave Gavril a look, contemplating her next words. "Why aren't I killing you is a good question...but I don't really know why I don't want to kill you...You are a threat to my family and I deal with threats to my family..." Rika stated evenly as her gaze swept over Gavril's face, gauging his expressions before sighing and running her fingers through her hair. "You are, however, one of those few people who don't deserve to die just because of their family." She shook her head briefly as she took a deep breath. "Your father is the cause of everything, correct? The reason you want to kill Ryuu, the reason why assassins are after a small child and her father, and the reason why my son is currently laying injured on my couch at home...then why should I kill you when he's the one who needs to be slain? The crimes of the father are not the crimes of the child." Rika asked evenly, her head tilted to the side in a curious manner. "If I were to deal with your father...would you still try to kill Ryuu?" She asked seriously. WITHOUT YOU, I'M STRUGGLING, MY LOVE

She needed to stop calling him a cinnamon bun, as he was not one but of course what did she know. After all with the things he had done there was no trusting him. Gavril should have been murdered. He was supposed to be long since dead, for trying to hunt her son. Yet the woman did not want to kill him. For the assassin that did just not make sense. Seriously what the fuck was going on here? Gavril did not understand how she could act like that. Knowing what he was supposed to do even if it was just on his father's orders. At the time he had been told that a child was supposed to do whatever the parent wanted. So Gavril had no reason or will to disobey all of his father's orders. Plus his mother's health care would be paid for. "Tsundere maybe, but cinnamon bun as if. I'm not that." He was not sure what else to say. Gavril felt a bit annoyed.
He should let his disguise fall but of course he was covered in blood. And not to mention he was wearing a hospital uniform. That'd bring more unwanted attention to him. However with that same thought in mind, he was not going to try to bring much more attention to that. He felt a bit pained at this same moment. This was the woman of a child he was supposed to kill, well not so much of a child as they were the same age. But Gavril had still been ordered to murder Ryuu Yamamoto with no care in the world. Though it was not likely that he'd even get that chance. Or he'd have to go through her first. Rika would likely not allow them to take another family member from her.
"Well he had to get that airhead from someone, so you seem to do pretty well. Maybe he learned just about anything you could offer." It wasn't like Gavril cared too much about it. He had his own life outside of all of this. Gavril didn't leave people alive often, but Ryuu was one of those exceptions. Having a lot of fun fighting him was probably the only reason. He did not care otherwise. "Yea so what if he is. It's still me who does the killing not him. So what will killing him really do?" Gavril knew she had a point but it was not like he wanted to believe or deal with any of this either. With a small shrug he tried to focus on other matters, like just what she would do with him now. She kept asking about his father. So she really wanted to kill him.
"Fight him yes, kill him no." Gavril wanted him for the fighting not the death. A simple thought really now wasn't it? However with that being said would she believe him at all. They had all lost people because of this mafia thing but for her it was worse wasn't it? Or perhaps for her and Ryuu as well.

A COLD RAIN IS FALLING Rika sighed, rolling her shoulders in a shrug. He could deny that he was a precious cinnamon roll all he wanted...but she wasn't going to buy it! Then again, she found many people to be precious cinnamon rolls, especially if they had some sort of tragic past going for that. She'd found Arashi, when he'd first shown up at the Varia as a young child to be precious. Ryuu had only been a few years old during that time...so she couldn't understand how any mother could simple abandon her child like that. She found it hard to believe that any parent could be so cold to their children, but had seen it time after time. She just sort of wanted to round up all those types of children and hug them all like the precious buns they were. Rika didn't want to pity Gavril for his father...because pity never made anybody feel good about anything. She wasn't sure why Gavril's father was the way he was...but it apparently had something to do with Gavril being a mist flame instead of a rain flame? She hated people like that - those who wanted certain flames for their children. Her own husband had been a storm flame, but whether or not Ryuu had been storm or rain didn't matter to her. He could have had no flames at all and it would have been okay! She had, however, seen too many family bosses who disowned children for not being the sky flame they needed to inherit a family. She couldn't believe that there were people who did that...but it was a thing. Rika chuckled briefly, taking her thoughts away from the topic of flames and children. She tried not to think too much about children...it was rough doing so. She briefly wondered what her unborn child would have been as a flame...maybe a storm like Akira? A boy or a girl? She'd love to have a girl to spoil rotten - not that she hadn't spoiled her son rotten either. Her brief chuckle turned into a sigh at the thought of what would never be, but she also pushed that out of her mind after a moment. It had happened fourteen years ago - give or take, but the wounds left behind never truly healed. There were two large holes left in her heart that had long since scarred over - aided by having a son and a almost-daughter to look after. She'd basically become the girl's mother and helped raise her alongside Gokudera after the death of her parents. "I can't really say where he gets it from," she stated smoothly, a soft smile crossing her features. "He's like his father in so many ways that it hurts sometimes...but I'm also proud of him for it..." Rika's gaze turned to Gavril's eyes, looking straight into them. "If your father can't love you for who you are - a mist flame user - then he doesn't deserve to have children...and from what Ryuu's told me about your mother is that she's too good for him..." Rika stated rather vehemently. Gavril's mother was in the hospital, still alive. She couldn't imagine what it was like for the poor woman to be married to a man who might as well have been abusing her son, but being unable to do anything about it. There were times that Rika had felt fairly helpless when it had come to raising a son without his father in the picture. She found it hard to go to parent day things for Ryuu, especially when it called for his father. She'd gone on more than one occasion and had to explain several times that "no, Ryuu's father didn't leave...he's dead..." to judging women who didn't understand. His grandfather had gone on multitude of times and she recalled even Squalo once, angrily, going for Ryuu. Rika's wine-eyed gaze maintained its pensive look towards Gavril when he finally did give his answer. It was a bit confusing - mentioning that he was the one doing the killing not his father, and that killing his father wouldn't change anything...but then going on to mention that he preferred fighting Ryuu, not killing him. Rika let out a sigh, her head tilted to the side slightly. "If you intend to continue trying to kill Ryuu, father or no..." Rika stated evenly, letting her voice trail off slightly. "I will kill you..." Her gaze hardened slightly as she said this as a knife slid out of her shirt sleeve and then was pointed at Gavril's throat for a brief second. "Don't get me wrong, Gavril, honey...I don't want to have to kill you...but if you were to continue being a threat to the safety of my son...I really would kill you...as " She'd done these movements fast enough and then let a small amount of killing intent reveal itself in the same movement. "As the former rain guardian of the Vongola, it was my job to wash away conflict...and if you are a conflict needing to be removed, I will do so without hesitation." The knife returned to its original place as the persona of death filtered away. "As it stands right now, I'm going to kill your father first," she brushed a strand of hair out of her face, a smirk crossing her features. "Besides, Ryuu has mentioned that your father seemed overly interested in him when the man came to bail you out..." She looked up for a brief moment, scowling at the sky for a second. "So, even if you don't succeed...there's the chance that your father will take drastic measures - like he has concerning Mako-chan...and he is posing a direct threat to the Vongola's security. Mako-chan knows about us now...and while he isn't a direct threat to us, the fact that your father is causing such problems as this is something that I also can't ignore...I could kill you right now, but how does that solve the problem of your father seems hell-bent on killing my son? I could kill you, but you are the greatest source of information on your father...and I won't drag your mother into this, for obvious reasons...so you live while you're useful to me..." He didn't entirely like being viewed as some precious ass cinnamon roll. That had never been Gavril's style really. No matter how they looked at it anyway wouldn't matter. His opinion had to be the only one that mattered if he thought about like that. Gavril wondered just how long she'd keep up this charade of hers. Trying to call him things he wasn't. She was so like someone he knew though, Ryuu's mom was quite the character he'd have to admit that part anyway. The boy wanted to run away from this, however it'd probably not end up working right? Seriously just what was he getting into? Gavril wondered how Ryuu managed to handle this woman on his own honestly. At that very moment he wanted to run away though she was not going to let him. When his father would likely abandon him for this, it was only a matter of time before he caught onto things. Of course that man was not stupid though he wished he was. Gavril couldn't help being sick of him.
Maybe he should go after all this was already confusing. How was he able to handle this? Ryuu needed to give him some tips sometimes, though he never wanted to ask him for help either. Gavril had gained his father and mother's stubborn quality which only added to his confusion more. But for now he didn't want to talk about all of that, it just seemed too much drama. With all the other shit going on around them at this moment, Ryuu being hunted. His father being behind it then getting a cop involved. Though the cop already put himself in that situation all on his own of course. This had already gone to shit so fast, but he shrugged and looked over at her. "Suppose so, but you should be glad about that in the same moment. He could have turned out worse instead of better. Though you think his father would be happy how you guys turned out." Not that he was supposed to be making nice.
Gavril never had been taught how to make nice, however for a moment he'd rather figure it out some other way. Ryuu had a good mom yet he was not sure he'd know how to handle that. His own mom was always in and out of the hospital more often then anything else of course. "Well yea I could have told him that, and honestly my father is just one of those obsessed people who wants what he can't have. So whatever, rain flames aren't going to help him in the end." He shrugged, keeping his guard up as he looked around. What was even there? He didn't like feeling slightly exposed like this even if he had some small trust for this woman. "Hah, of course you'd protect your kid. But no if Father dies, Ryuu can do whatever the fuck he wants. I may show up to fight him but that shouldn't be a shock really." Gavril didn't like admitting that. He was supposed to kill everyone and anyone. He could not let his target escape yet Ryuu was a special case.
He did not even flinch as she held the knife like that. It didn't even bother him or anything. He was just too stubborn to let small things scare him. His father's issues had prepared him for one thing. Kill his father? Well that guy wasn't much of a father anyway so whatever. "Go ahead, kill him I don't really give a shit if or when he dies. Just make it painful. Anyway, you want to keep him from groping all over your child then I'd get a head start." Gavril knew he was digging a hole but perhaps his father was too busy to notice. That was all he could debate on and it was gone rather fast. "If you don't kill me it's likely he is going to. But whatever don't you have a son to get back to?" Gavril had to go back home soon as much as he did not want to.
At least she wouldn't drag his mother into this, that was all that mattered to Gavril right now.

A COLD RAIN IS FALLING Rika could tell that Gavril didn't like being referred to as a precious cinnamon bun/roll, but honestly...it was why she did. Ryuu didn't enjoy it when she teased him, but she did it anyway. She had this teasing and playful side to her that many found endearing, but also difficult to deal with. How AKira, laid-back as he had been had handled her personality was beyond anybody's comprehension. The two had loved each other, so Akira had accepted Rika for all of her flaws and she had done the same. Losing him had been rough, made only worse by a subsequent miscarriage and the realization that she had to raise a son without his father. Gavril had his father...but that thing was no father. He didn't deserve that title. While Rika's own father had been somewhat emotionally stunted in the sense that he was heavily immature and allowed his princess to do whatever she wanted as a child and then as a teenager. Rika couldn't understand how a parent could harm their own flesh and blood in anyway. Perhaps it was different for a moment, but she'd loved Ryuu the second she'd found out she was pregnant and had never stopped. The fact that Akira had remained with her, even asking her to marry him on the spot had been somewhat of a blessing. He'd loved the idea of having a child, especially a son when they found out. Rika gave Gavril another, somewhat appraising look. She'd seen enough children, adults too, in her life to know how some parents were. She couldn't fathom it, no matter how much she wished she could understand. Children like Silvia, even Arashi, and several of the younger members of the Vongola had come to love Rika like a mother because she took care of them, no matter their past. She fed Arashi and the Varia on several occasion when Arashi was a young child, and still enjoyed feeding the now adult Varia captain when he came by, like she was actually his mother. It wasn't much, but doing something like that...it still meant something. Arashi would never admit how much he appreciated the fact that Rika did seem to care. "I do have a son to get back to..." Rika stated after a moment, but then looked at the time as they crossed a street - Rika just casually leading Gavril in the direction of her home as they spoke. It was the best way to keep somebody distracted and that was just to have a talk with them. Sometimes they didn't realize their location. Which currently, was just down the street from her home. She glanced at a digital clock hanging from a street lamp. The sky was still dark, but sunrise would be in a couple hours. It was super early morning...time for breakfast! At this point, Rika was steering Gavril by his shoulders into her house, passed the couch where Ryuu was asleep - wrapped in a blanket and snuggled into a pillow - with Amaya, rested and revitalized for the most part, asleep on the back of the couch, but also seemingly somewhat alert. Ryuu, at some point, had also propped up his injured leg on the other end of the couch and was snoring just a little. At the quiet sounds of entrance, he rolled over into his pillow more, hiding his face in his sleepily, unaware that the guy who tried to kill him once or twice was currently in his mom's kitchen. "However, assassinations empty your stomach fairly fast..." she stated evenly, forcing Gavril into a seat at the kitchen table. "Sit. Stay," she ordered as she fetched some items from the cabinets. "Pancakes? Chocolate chip or blueberry?" she asked easily, like she hadn't just brought the kid into her house where her son, her friend, and...Ringo was somewhere...resided in after he was well-known to wanting to kill Ryuu. From what she'd seen and heard already, Gavril wasn't likely to attempt anything while Ryuu was incapacitated. WITHOUT YOU, I'M STRUGGLING, MY LOVE
