We were the fire on the moonlit skies The Vongola's underground base hadn't been used as a base in years. In general, it was used for emergencies. At the moment, only the Vongola Guardians, the Varia Guardians, and the upper echelon of CEDEF really knew of the existence of the base. There was also the Foundation, but Ryuu wasn't really sure what they did besides investigate box weapons. He just knew that it was the group Hibari had founded to keep peace around Namimori. Keep peace....where were they went gun shots were going off? Hibari had retired some years ago and if he remembered correctly...it was his...uncle - his blood-aunt's husband - who ran the Foundation currently. There wouldn't be an issue in getting in. There'd be some questioning about who he was bringing and why...and his uncle might make a fuss about him...but he was a Hibari, after all.
Ryuu lead Makoto through the forest and to an area somewhere behind the shrine of Namimori shrine. He seemed to know exactly where he was going. In fact, there was an inconspicious building heavily tucked away in the forest surrounding the shrine that anybody who didn't know the way there would have probably gotten lost in the forest. It was quiet mostly, but Ryuu's voice rang out - sounding absolutely exhausted and saturated with agony - he was feeling light-headed and dizzy and he wasn't happy about that. "Uncle - you around?"
"Trespassing herbivo...." the voice rang out from the building as the japanese style-door slid open to reveal a middle-aged man, black hair peppered in gray wearing a yutaka and wielding a pair of tonfas with cloud flames coating them, obviously ready for a fight. Seeing his nephew from his wife's side though, the man put away his weapon. He glanced back inside, suddenly barking out an order. "Herbivores - get some medical supplies."
Ryuu broke away from Makoto's aid, instead hobbling over to his uncle who ushered the both of them inside. There were only a few Foundation members available - including the leader, and his second-in-command. The second-in-command was a blonde man, with a pompadour hair cut. Ryuu fist bumped the man - who looked to be about maybe Makoto's age. He gave Makoto an interested look, questioning who he was for a second in his eyes before offering Ryuu a first aid kit and then disappearing to make some tea for the three of them.
Ryuu gratefully sank down to the floor as he fiddled through the first aid kit - also filled with surgical supplies and produced a scalpel, a pair of bullet remover tweezers, a pair of surgical gloves and a bottle of alcohol. He sprawled his leg out next to him, rubbed some more rain flames into the injury to slow the bleeding and the pain before turning to Makoto. "Hold still...this is probably going to hurt." He worked fairly fast, splashing the alcohol onto the wound to sterilize it before making several surgical cuts on the other's shoulders with one hand, staunching the bleeding and the pain with his other hand coated in rain flames. After about ten minutes, he was pulling an amazingly, intact bullet, from the other's shoulder. He inspected it for a second before dropping the blood covered object into a tray. He pulled out a roll of gauze, electing to merely cover the injury before stitching it up. He didn't want to risk the chance of infection, so he'd wait to stitch it up.
Ryuu's uncle was watching them with a critical eye for a moment, waiting until Ryuu was done as he sipped at a cup of tea his second had brought him. "What happened?"
"The usual, you know...people trying to kill me...people trying to kill this one." Ryuu stated, completely casual about it like this was a regular occurrence. "I was thrown completely off-guard by a drive-by shooting. That's so old school assassination technique that I didn't think anybody would ever try it..." Ryuu groaned slightly, leaning back against a wall. "We're gonna chill here for awhile...I know you don't like crowding...but Makoto here works for the police...and the Foundation is the only group I know besides the Varia who could pack up and leave in seconds if it ever came to that, but I trust him enough to bring him here. And I think Arashi would kill me if I brought him to the Varia HQ." Some of these names probably sounded foreign to Makoto - besides the name Arashi...but who knows...maybe the other names had come up during his mafia investigations.
Ryuu looked at his leg next, trying to figure out what the hell he was going to do about it. It was a lot more tricky than Makoto's, that's for sure. He shifted it, trying to get a good look at the injury itself. "You can't tell your wife about this, by the way...Ryker will just think I'm an absolute idiot, but that's normal." He took a glance over at Makoto, trying to figure out what to say to him now. Instead, just vying for, "Ask your questions and you might get answers..." he stated evenly as he went about his own impromptu leg surgery. "By the way - this is my uncle Hibari Rentaro. Sort of. He's married to my aunt on my dad's side," Ryuu clarified as he poked at the swelling in his leg for a moment. "Uncle Ren - Hanamura Makoto - danger magnet."

"Dammit Ryuu..." Tonight was supposed to be a good night. Ringo got to eat at one of his favorite places and enjoy himself with some casual college acquaintances. He was just supposed to return home and relax. Nothing too complicated right? Well nothing gets more complicated than a corpse, a guan dao, and a trail of blood. Ringo placed a palm against his face and then quickly took out his cellphone, took a picture, and sent a small report in text to CEDEF also a small request of for them to store the guan dao inside CEDEF headquarters. He might need it later...maybe...for reasons. "I can't have a night off can I." Ringo quickly started to dash after the trail of blood. The direction it led to was a little familiar after all. Ringo walked on in the Foundation head quarters. It was a place tucked away at the back of Namimori Shrine. He was never too fond of visiting there but he had to check the status of a Vongola associated base. Turns out, someone was bleeding and brought someone wounded. Ringo wanted to place his face against the wall when he was told by the staff it was Ryuu Yamamoto. "Oi. Sorry for barging in." Ringo walked on in. He did a quick scan of their conditions and sighed. "What trouble did you get yourself into now?" He then looked over at Hibari Rentaro and bowed politely. "Seriously Ryuu..." Ringo said as he raised himself. "Oh well, at least you responded reasonably to a wounded person caught in the cross fire of our lives. I called CEDEF to deal with the corpse but with the Foundation closer, it might just be easier for you guys to deal with it. I counted one body, likely an assassin Ryuu took down, on the way here." Ringo reported to Rentaro. Tagged: Open Music: None Notes: Here is buzzkill.

I want to see the splendor of people's souls. Makoto was only following instructions. Beyond that he had no idea where to go or what to do, and yet at the same time he didn't want to talk about it. Just what good would it do him for this to happen? Sighing lightly he tried to relax and hope it wouldn't get too bad. He had to hope that this place would be okay for them to be in at the very least. He did have a lot of questions but for now he'd have to keep that to himself. Best to not let this guy know anything about what he was thinking. Makoto had been shot, his body hurt and Ryuu was shot too. So not much else they could do about it. They had to go here or they'd just end up being in worse situations. Who knew what was waiting for them anyway. Well okay maybe Ryuu did but no he did not. Makoto was not certain about any of this. Following Ryuu's instructions was all he was doing now. Makoto looked up at the guy who they had run into. Ryuu knew him it seemed, though the Uncle comment. What did this even mean? So it was another one of those things he needed to understand. "Wait Uncle? So this is yours?" He tilted his head and then sighed. Maybe he needed to shut up before he did say something he shouldn't. After all he was a cop in a place he hadn't been. One he didn't know much about. What else could he say? Walking with Ryuu as he tried to keep focused on the situation at hand. As for what had happened. What he had done and how he got shot. All of those things anyway. Getting Ryuu shot if that had been his fault was not even part of the plan either. However no way to deal with it now. They were already here. Makoto settled on the floor and just leaned back a little bit. He was trying to relax, even though it'd probably hurt. He'd had worse. So he just looked at Ryuu and nodded. "Just do it man, I've had worse. Get your wound taken care of."He was not going to dwell on this as he just let Ryuu do his thing. Which right now was treating wounds. "What is this all about? You said you'd explain." Of course Makoto figured asking now was not going to get him anywhere but he wanted to know. He had a feeling Ryuu was one of them. One of those mafia people the way it seemed. However nothing he could do about it now either. Makoto shrugged, yea those names had come up but he'd rather not discuss it. Some of them at least however he'd still rather not bring that stuff to light. "I am not a danger magnet...not exactly anyway. But you are the one who is involved with this. Where the hell are we? And you killed that man which only makes think you weren't just there to be there. You were following me for real weren't you. And the blue well you know." Makoto didn't want to talk about those, he tried to pretend he didn't have those. Tried not to think about the fact that he had them or that he had seen any of this. Makoto was not exactly unaware of this world he just knew he didn't want to be. Of course then Ringo appearing only made this even more confusing. RYUU YAMAMOTO, RINGO SHIRO |

We were the fire on the moonlit skies Ryuu shrugged his shoulders indifferently to Makoto's comment. No, it wasn't his...he wasn't a direct member of the Hibari bloodline. He wasn't sure when it turned into a familial inheritance thing for the Foundation though. He wasn't really sure why it was, but it was apparently. Originally it had been Hibari and his Namimori Middle disciplinary committee as the members, but it had grown larger of the years. Ryuu himself, had been a member of the disciplinary committee during school...but had never joined the Foundation as a member. He was already an unofficial member of the Varia and the Vongola's Rain Guardian. He didn't need more shit piled onto his plate. "Not quite. It would go to Ryker because he's a direct descendant of Hibari Kyoya," Ryuu explained, looking towards his uncle for confirmation.
"Yes. If Ryker has a desire to take leadership of the Foundation, it will be his...but he seems happy with that dysfunctional family of his," the man stated, maintaining a sort of deadpan on his face as he watched Ryuu work on the officer's injuries. "The Foundation - an organization created to keep the peace in Namimori between mafia families who reside here as well as investigate box weapons, animals, and dying will flames." The man stirred a little bit more sugar into his tea as he spoke, taking a drink of it. He tapped his spoon against the side, trying to police his own words for the police officer. "We are allies of the Vongola, but we remain like the Cloud guardian - the aloof, drifting cloud that protects the Vongola as an independent group."
Besides the fact that Ryuu's uncle had given the explanation of where they were and what the Foundation was, Ryuu had other explanations to give. He didn't want to have to explain to Makoto that he was a member of the mafia he was hunting down, an assassin - a killer, at that and so was his mother. Ryuu paused in his ministrations for a second, opening his mouth to speak and respond as the Lightning guardian of the Vongola came bursting, demanding to know what was going on. Hibari Rentaro gave the Lightning guardian a look and sighed, signalling his second to put on another pot of tea for the group. The other had brought the tea out, placing cups to the side of Ryuu and Makoto - out of their way while Ryuu worked.
"You have impeccable timing as ever, Sparkles," Ryuu stated in a deadpan tone of voice as he removed his fingers from Makoto's injured shoulder now that he was finished with it. "The time I actually need you as a meat shield, you're not there! You should work on your timing," Ryuu quipped in a sassy tone now. "And for the record, I was the one caught in the crossfire! Sort of...I'm not sure anymore..." he added this at the end, muttering it to himself. He really wasn't sure what was going on anymore. "Oh...thanks for dealing with the body...I can't handle my own weight, let alone dead weight to hide a corpse. Do you loot the ring and his boxes? I forget to, but I usually resell them...because why not."
Ryuu sighed, now going to answer Makoto's questions. "No. I wasn't there just to be there. I was following you - and I thought that my presence would deter more assassins from going after you for the rest of the night. You've had them after you the last few days...actually, I'd just taken one out before meeting up with you and so did mom..." Ryuu admitted, as he working on at least cleaning up his own wound with a wet towel as well as the blood of the assassin that was still splashed across his face. It had long since dried. "You've been digging too deep...into what exactly, I haven't figured out. I haven't figured out who has been hiring these assassins to go after you yet, either...but both mom and I have been protecting you and your daughter from them the last few days. At this point, I'm gonna have to lock you in a box or something." Once his leg was somewhat cleaned up, he could get a clear look at the bullet wound in his calf. "This is gonna be difficult..." he muttered, annoyed with everything. "Can I even be my own doctor?" he asked nobody in particular. "Guess we'll find out." He grabbed scalpel, grimacing in pain as he cut through his swelled calf, letting the pooled blood leak out and onto the towel that he'd put under it. He didn't want there to a be a build up of blood in the calf. He was light headed though, probably from losing the amount of blood he had. He didn't have any O negative blood or his own, A negative, blood type on hand though.
Once he was finished, he'd also managed to splint his leg as well and he looked quite pleased with himself, albeit pale and covered in his own blood, Makoto's blood, and the assassin's blood at this point. "So I can doctor myself." he held the bloody scalpel in the air, pointing at Makoto for a moment. "Us here is the exact reason I became a doctor, you know. So I can do shit like this on the fly." He rolled his shoulders in a shrug as he leaned back against the wall. "I never wanted to tell you...I was going to deal with the assassin problem and then you never would have known that there was a hit on you." He sighed heavily, letting his hands glow blue with the flame of rain again as he held it over his calf, numbing the lingering pain. The bullet had torn through calf muscles and his fibula was fractured...so yeah. He was in a bit of pain at the moment. "I'll have to get antibiotics for the both of us - to make sure our wounds don't get infected..." he mused to himself. He'd lost a lot of blood - there was a trail of it outside. Ryuu had tried to mask their trail the best he could on his way there, though. But there wasn't much else he could do now. He glanced down suddenly, realizing that his uncle's second in command had brought out snacks for the both of them - to help make the blood loss easier to handle. Ryuu wiped his bloody hands on a free spot of clothes, grabbed one of the snacks and nibbled on it lightly.

"Dammit Ryuu..." "You have impeccable timing as ever, Sparkles," Ryuu said. "The time I actually need you as a meat shield, you're not there! You should work on your timing," Ringo twitched. If someone wouldn't get in trouble or show more caution... "And for the record, I was the one caught in the crossfire! Sort of...I'm not sure anymore..." Ringo arched an eyebrow. "Oh...thanks for dealing with the body...I can't handle my own weight, let alone dead weight to hide a corpse. Do you loot the ring and his boxes? I forget to, but I usually resell them...because why not.""I didn't loot the boxes and rings. I am leaving that to the Foundation or CEDEF, though likely the former since they are closer to the body." Ringo looked over at the black haired man on the ground and wounded and quickly deduced from Ryuu's words that he and his daughter are targets of some sort. He also heard that Rika was involved with this. Oh boy, this is going to be chaos. Ringo quickly pulled out his phone however before he could do anything further. "I'd like to get your name and statements. I'm Shiro Ringo. I know Sprinkle here and everyone in this facility through...a familial connection you can say. Who might you be and how are you involved in all of this?"Tagged: Open Music: None Notes: Here is buzzkill.

I want to see the splendor of people's souls. Makoto was already lost by all of this, more people that were involved in this whole mafia related thing? More people Ryuu and by default Rika knew. How the hell was he supposed to know or handle any of this? Of course he should be able to handle it easier after all he was a cop who dealt with all the mafia stuff. Makoto was not going to change his mind on that work anytime soon. As if anything would help when he did anyway right? Perhaps he'd need to figure this out in his own way instead of asking. Yet Makoto had a feeling if he didn't ask he would just be left without answers he needed. Even if he could not and would not use them for his investigation. "I see. Well that explains a lot I suppose. Ryker seems to be in his own little world. But who knows what he'll do." Of course Makoto had no idea what to do about this. It was already a tad bit awkward to think about. Makoto was only listening with barely any comment. What should he do? After all this was only slightly new to him and he'd want to keep out of it. To find out that he was investigating someone he trusted all because of them being involved in that mafia business. Not exactly what he wanted. Makoto would have to watch his back around them too maybe. Ryuu had saved him though. If they were to kill him then he would have died already. They could have just let him die anyway no matter what. "Okay. I'm starting to piece this together. But still to think Ryuu and Rika were involved in this." It was not like he wanted them to be involved, or to have to hunt them down. So in his line of work he'd have to keep any signs of that involvement out of it. Not exactly a good idea he could be fired if he got caught though. But he'd do that so they would not get arrested. Makoto was not going to let that happen no matter what he had to do or risk. They were family to him after and they took care of his daughter as well. So he had to keep them safe at the same time even if he didn't entirely know what to say. Lose his job, or have people taken away. He'd pick lose his job before all of that. Now there was this other person, Sparkles or whatever. Makoto didn't know them but apparently Ryuu did. Not a big shocker there. Makoto knew he was being followed now. He was right about it. So much for not being suspicious. "I see. So it wasn't just a one time thing." He had a lot to think of now, Makoto did not need to say all that much either right now. "I don't think I can exactly tell you what I've been digging into. It's best you just don't know. Even more so after all of this. Locking me in a box hah, you should be locked in one too." They had targeted Ryuu as well. He did not want to be the reason he got targeted all over again either. Of course he had other things on his mind now, and he was kinda zoned out because of it. Makoto only nodded, he was only trying to focus on what he was thinking about rather then other people at this point. "I am the cop here and yet I feel like I'm being interrogated now. Jeez, this is too weird. But whatever. Ask Ryuu. Let him explain it." He shrugged, Makoto didn't entirely want to talk about it right now. He had too much on his mind. RYUU YAMAMOTO, RINGO SHIRO |

We were the fire on the moonlit skies Ryuu shot Ringo a look, not amused with his comment about his lack of ability to show caution. He didn't even look abashed about the fact that he did cause a lot of trouble, but he could show caution! He just threw caution into the wind. He practiced it when he needed to and threw it out when he didn't need caution. "I don't know what you're talking about, Sparkles...I'm perfectly capable of practicing caution, I just choose not. And remember, I grew up around Arashi and the Varia with Squalo as my teacher...I'd be ashamed of myself if I didn't cause problems!" Apparently, this Varia was just a bunch of troublemakers...but they were always good at solving their problems and so was Ryuu.
Rentaro couldn't help but chime in and add. "So much for being the blessed shower that washes away conflict? You cause more than you stop," he laughed at Ryuu's withering glance before continuing. "Ringo is perfect for the Lightning Guardian role because he really embodies what it is to be a lightning rod." At this, Rentaro casually draped an arm over Ringo's shoulders. For a son of Hibari, he was rather laid back...but then again, he was Rika's brother-in-law and that certainly had something to do with everything. He was also Ryker's father...but it was almost scary because since he was a Hibari, he could probably flip on a dime into the "bite you to death," skylark that he was. "Aren't you glad to be a part of the Vongola, my dear lightning rod?"
Ryuu snorted lightly and sighed heavily as Makoto left the 'statement' to him. That wasn't a good idea because Ryuu didn't want to give one. He didn't feel like he needed to. Why? It was his business, he didn't want CEDEF butting in. "Who do you think you are, Ringo? A police officer? Nah, man. That's Makoto's job." Ryuu stated, glancing at the other for a moment. He would explain further once Ringo wasn't nagging him about what happened. "Makoto's been hunted by assassins the last few days...both mom and I have been tailing him and have taken out a few assassins...it just so happens that this time, the assassins got the jump on me. I wasn't expecting a drive-by shooting...if my instincts and reflexes had been any slow, Makoto would have been shot in the neck and I would have been shot in the knee." Compared to what could have been, Ryuu had gotten away lightly. "After the guy shot at us, there was a second assassin waiting as a close-range specialist. After probably my worst fight in a long time, Makoto and I managed to take him out - as you've seen. So there's a second assassin out there somewhere...after we make sure Makoto and his daughter are in a safe house, mom's gonna go hunting." He smiled at Ringo, amused. "I wouldn't go telling her that it's probably a dumb idea...you know how she is. Mama bear has unsheathed her claws."
"Goodness...I feel bad for whatever idiot crosses her on a warpath." Rentaro commented dryly. He stared into his tea cup, forlornly for a moment. "I was at the battle where we lost Akira...Rika picked up her broken katana and went at them like a wild cat..." he ran his fingers through dark brunette, nearly black, locks of hair. "If she's on a war path...it's best to stay out of her way and hope she doesn't do something overly stupid. Thankfully, if Makoto's kid is with her right now...she won't go on a war path, yet. She'd die before letting anything happen to that child."
There was a moment of silence afterwards, the mention of Ryuu's father and the fight that got him killed being what caused it. After a moment, Ryuu finally spoke up, finally answering Makoto's earlier questions. There would probably be more after that statement, though. Makoto believed that Akira had been killed in a car accident with a drunk driver...but he had died in a battle against an enemy family after the death of the Vongola's previous boss. Ryuu ran his fingers through his hair. "On that depressing note...yeah. Mom and I, and my grandfather and basically my entire family are members or allied with the Vongola mafia family," he admitted easily. He held up his left hand, showing off the Vongola Rain ring. "I'm the Rain Guardian of the Twelfth Generation of the Vongola mafia family - Ringo, over there, if you haven't caught it yet, is the Lightning guardian. It means we're members of the top brass of the Vongola - we're the closest to the boss of the family in the sense that we are his closest allies and confidants. If he can't trust his guardians, then he can't trust anybody." Ryuu put his hand down, twisting the ring on his hand lightly. "I'm also an unofficial member of the Varia..." If Makoto asked, he'd tell...but right now, he was keeping the Varia as a "don't ask, don't tell' sort of policy.
Ryuu frowned at Makoto for a moment, wondering just what he was getting into that he couldn't tell Ryuu about, even knowing what he was. "That...doesn't make me feel any better right now, Makoto." Ryuu stated evenly, as he leaned back and ran his fingers through his hair. He was just so tired at the moment and needed to sleep. He'd been on the job the last few days and all the stress now was catching up to him. "I can understand why you won't tell me...mom and I have lied to your for a long time...about who we are...and I can understand if you don't trust us at the moment with important information...but remember that you are the target of assassins...you're digging deep enough into something that they feel the need to send trained killers after you," Ryuu was being completely serious about this. "You need to watch your back...and..." he paused for a second, sighing at his leg in annoyance. "I'm going to evaluate your combat skills and improve upon them...because if it's just you against a trained assassin, I can assure you, the assassin is problem going to win." Ryuu looked at Makoto calmly, not an ounce of wavering in his eyes. "Even injured as I am right now /I/ could kill you without breaking a sweat...so you need to learn how to better identify blood lust and killing intent, how to hide your own intentions, how to be more stealthy - because honestly, you're not good at it...this from watching you the last few days without you even knowing."
Ryuu moved over to Makoto and casually draped an arm over his uninjured shoulder. "Don't worry...I'll be easy on my training. I won't expect you to go into an enemy mafia, steal one of their family rings and get out undetected. Squalo did that to me...but then he purposely triggered the alarm. Good times. Good times. But yes. I won't do that..."

"Dammit Ryuu..."
"I don't know what you're talking about, Sparkles...I'm perfectly capable of practicing caution, I just choose not. And remember, I grew up around Arashi and the Varia with Squalo as my teacher...I'd be ashamed of myself if I didn't cause problems!" Ringo wondered how in the world Silvia put up with this. "So much for being the blessed shower that washes away conflict? You cause more than you stop," Ringo agreed with Rentaro here. g. "Ringo is perfect for the Lightning Guardian role because he really embodies what it is to be a lightning rod. Aren't you glad to be a part of the Vongola, my dear lightning rod?" It was at this point that Ringo wondered if that was a compliment or not. Just...take it and go with it."Yup, so glad CEDEF recommended me to you guys.""I am the cop here and yet I feel like I'm being interrogated now. Jeez, this is too weird. But whatever. Ask Ryuu. Let him explain it." "Who do you think you are, Ringo? A police officer? Nah, man. That's Makoto's job." Excuse me for wanting answers? "Makoto's been hunted by assassins the last few days...both mom and I have been tailing him and have taken out a few assassins...it just so happens that this time, the assassins got the jump on me. I wasn't expecting a drive-by shooting...if my instincts and reflexes had been any slow, Makoto would have been shot in the neck and I would have been shot in the knee." Hunted? Could it have something to do with that glasses guy Ryuu let go? "After the guy shot at us, there was a second assassin waiting as a close-range specialist. After probably my worst fight in a long time, Makoto and I managed to take him out - as you've seen. So there's a second assassin out there somewhere...after we make sure Makoto and his daughter are in a safe house, mom's gonna go hunting." Ringo shuddered. "I wouldn't go telling her that it's probably a dumb idea...you know how she is. Mama bear has unsheathed her claws." He didn't need to know any further. "Goodness...I feel bad for whatever idiot crosses her on a warpath. I was at the battle where we lost Akira...Rika picked up her broken katana and went at them like a wild cat..." That wasn't the only story. Ringo's mom heard plenty of tales and felt the need to share them with Ringo...come to think of it, Vongola is filled with all kinds of nutsos. Akira though...wasn't that...? "If she's on a war path...it's best to stay out of her way and hope she doesn't do something overly stupid. Thankfully, if Makoto's kid is with her right now...she won't go on a war path, yet. She'd die before letting anything happen to that child.""On that depressing note...yeah. Mom and I, and my grandfather and basically my entire family are members or allied with the Vongola mafia family," Ryuu said. If he can't trust his guardians, then he can't trust anybody." Ringo nodded. It seemed like this was a lot to take in for Makoto. Ringo listened to the rest of the conversation. Ryuu training a police officer? Ringo hated to say it but Ryuu is right for the job. He was taught various techinques by Squalo and Rika. Being older, Ryuu actually has more live combat experience than Ringo does. While Ringo is decent in a fight, his tactics more involve the lines of making use of what he has and over turn the enemy in a moment of their carelessness. A defensive form of combat befittin a Thunder flame user. "I guess that settles that. Makoto-san, sorry if Makoto is your first name, I suggest you take Ryuu up on the offer. I hate to admit this, but he is perfect for training you, trouble making as he is. Plus I think it would do the police some good if someone can fight against flame users." Ringo looked over at Ryuu. "Should I arrange for a set of rings in case he unlocks his flames during training? CEDEF has some spares I can lend if this facility can't provide."Tagged: Open Music: None Notes: Here is buzzkill.

I want to see the splendor of people's souls. Makoto was just sitting here, it wasn't like he knew much else and exactly what he'd do. Sighing lightly he wanted all of this to end. Perhaps it wouldn't be that bad anyway no matter how he looked at these things. He was just suddenly dragged into this whole mafia related thing. What could he do about that? So seriously weird obviously. He felt that he was basically just outside of this conversation however it was not a bad thing either now was it? Makoto could have had a lot worse anyway now that he was truly thinking about it. He was just the one who was the observer in this situation. All he could do was listen to the two of them go at it or whatever they were doing honestly. They did seem to be old friends after all. So he wasn't going to be the one who got in the way of that. "Sounds about right. Got into any fights with that kid again?" He didn't give many details, after all Gavril was Ryuu's stalker not his own. A simple thought really. However he did not want to bring this up it was not his place to even do that. Maybe they could talk some sense into each other eventually. Not that he knew exactly how to go about that. Rika and Ryuu could handle themselves it seemed. With all the things they had hidden though, he couldn't help but wonder more about it. Akira dying was also something he wanted to know more about. But asking Ryuu and Rika would not happen. Makoto shrugged his shoulders. Yea he was the police officer but Ringo already asked those things anyway. To think that he was actually sitting here being interrogated though. That was not something he felt that comfortable with anyway. Makoto kept his mouth shut he did not want to think about any of this. It'd probably not help him or bring him anything useful. He was just trying to do the best to listen to these situations. However with that being said he couldn't help but wonder why they were talking like this. He was not supposed to know this stuff but maybe it was because they had brought him here. No turning back now. "I want to go home, and see my kid already. This won't take much longer will it? I mean thank you for helping us of course I just wanna see my daughter." He knew he shouldn't go there if he put her in danger. But she was his baby girl. And Makoto wanted to keep her close as he could. "To think I was looking for something that was right under my nose this whole time. If you'll excuse me." He stood up, and ignored how his body hurt a little bit. Makoto just wanted to be left alone right now so he walked a bit further away from them and leaned against the wall. He seemed to be thinking. Let Ryuu do whatever he wanted, Makoto had nothing more to say right now. He didn't entirely like being lied to even by friends. The only reason he didn't seem mad is because they kept his daughter safe. She was more important then his own emotions would ever be of course, however it did not make things much easier anyway right? He only stared at Ryuu as the boy draped an arm over his shoulder. "Okay..And no I don't need those rings." He was not sure he wanted to ask for them. Maybe he was just being stubborn about it now. He just wanted to get this over with and go home. We were the fire on the moonlit skies Ryuu wasn't really sure was going to happen now that Makoto knew about him and his mom being in the mafia. Would they have to leave? The fact that if Makoto felt inclined, he could turn them in as mafioso left Ryuu nervous about him knowing. Ryuu knew that it wasn't likely to happen, but on the off chance it did...both he and his mother would disappear. They knew how. Ryuu could join the Vongola's medical team and take to his duties as Vongola's rain guardian without the interference of civilian life? He wondered how he would look blonde...Ryuu wanted Makoto to be safe, but what if he started using the knowledge that Ryuu was going to teach him against his family? What if the Vindice found out that he was technically breaking Omerta in telling him and aiding a police officer? It probably wasn't a huge deal to the Vindice...but there was that chance.
He shook his head inwardly, trying not to think that far ahead. Makoto hadn't made an indication that he was going to turn them in, so he had no reason to be so paranoid about what would happen. The Vindice were somewhat cool now. It didn't hurt to have an escape plan ready to enact if he had to, though. Perhaps that was Squalo's teaching him to always have a Plan B just in case. A contingency plan...Makoto cared about them. He knew that he did...he'd stuck around to try to help Rika with the loss of her husband and raising a son without a father. His grandfather had been a huge asset to having around and so had Squalo...both had sort of filled the void that his father's death had left behind...and even Makoto had filled it somewhat too. He'd thought, as a child, that Makoto had been his mother's attempt to replace his father...but now, he knew different. He hadn't been like a father, no...maybe an older brother? Yeah. Kind of like an older brother.
Ryuu hated being alone with his thoughts sometimes...especially when they were in turmoil like they were. He needed to calm down some...maybe meditate or something. He sighed, running his fingers through his hair. "I don't need rings...I have some of varying ranks...and god only knows how many rain rings my mom hoards." Rika no longer had the Vongola Ring of the Rain, so she was stuck using lower ranked rings...and instead of investing in a decently ranking rain ring of B or higher, she just hoarded the rain rings that Ryuu hoarded from his targets or stole from his targets. Arashi often underpaid Ryuu for his work - under the premise that Ryuu wasn't an official Varia member and wasn't subject to their pay grade...so Ryuu, in a way of getting his money's worth for his job...often just sort of looted his target's home. He'd come across several interesting items over the year that he hoarded. "At least I'll only have to explain seven out of the seventeen flame types...eight if Arashi insists on causing problems for everybody as usual..." Ryuu mentally kicked himself. With Ringo and his uncle there, he was used to talking mafia business with the both of them...but he'd forgotten that Makoto didn't know Arashi was a part of it either. Granted, Arashi was a part of EVERYTHING, so it probably wasn't too big of a surprise...although...being that Arashi did work for the police on occasion, Makoto might find a problem with that.
Ryuu blinked, confused as they brought up Gavril. That 'kid' couldn't be anybody BUT Gavril. Why would they bring him up...although. Ryuu thought deeply about it...Gavril's dad seemed to have an extreme vendetta against him - more than Gavril's at least. Gavril seemed somewhat more...honorable about trying to murder him at least. From what he'd heard about his dad - from Gavril's mom and from Gavril himself...he wouldn't put it passed the man to hire assassins to go after the people he cared about. A sense of anger washed over Ryuu, aimed more towards the other's father than towards Gavril himself. "Eh. It goes about as well as you'd expect. Trying to kill me. Me deciding he's actually precious and a hug and for life to not kick him." Ryuu blinked at what he just said and colored slightly. He sounded just like his mom. Oh god. Granted, at least he hadn't gone as far as his mom. "You should hear mom with her opinions. Apparently, him trying to kill me is translated into him wanting a tryst." He didn't want to mention all their conversations during their fights though...considering some of the comments they'd both thrown out at each other.
Rentaro snorted, obviously holding in some sort of laugh with the sound he made. "That...does not surprise me. You know she still is convinced my father and Mukuro-san have a thing."
Ryuu shrugged before looking at Makoto, agreeing that it was about time they left. Ryuu took a moment to struggle to his feet, taking an offered crutch from his uncle's second-in-command. He wondered why there was only one, but decided it better not to ask. "Yeah...we should head out...as much as I hate to say it, Ringo, you're coming with to be our meat shield." Ryuu stated, leaning against the crutch. He was trying to even out the weight distribution between his uninjured leg and the crutch so he could be somewhat balanced when he walked and didn't look like a total cripple. "We'll head over to mom's...Makoto, I think I'd feel better if you stayed over...but I understand if you don't want to." He knew that Makoto would need a lot of time to process the new information he'd received that night. "When I get the chance, I'll bring you some antibiotics...and you'll want to change the bandages at least once a day," Ryuu stated, rambling slightly. "I'll check how you're doing in a few days." That would give Makoto a few days to think about things. He'd done a decent job at first aid, though. It was what he was trained for, after all.

"Dammit Ryuu..."
Ringo listened to the lengthy conversation. This was quite the trouble Ryuu has gotten himself into. Still it if the policeman is being chased and he has family, likely things might go south if they don't act quick. Yes they're acting now but who knows how fast the opposition moved. It was this life style. Conflict was going to happen. No matter how much he wanted to avoid it if at all possible. Then again, having a peaceful life when one is mafia is only a pipe dream. "Yeah...we should head out...as much as I hate to say it, Ringo, you're coming with to be our meat shield." Ringo snorted. Of course he'd say that. "We'll head over to mom's...Makoto, I think I'd feel better if you stayed over...but I understand if you don't want to." Ringo thought about how they should go about this. Transporting a person is by no means easy, especially when they're both a little worse for wear. "For transportation, I can get you guys a car and we can take you to Rika's place." Ringo declared. "As for you..." Ringo looked at the police officer. "I'm afraid you might not say if you want a ring or not. While normal weapons might hurt or injure, they don't stand much of a chance against dying will flame users." Ringo began to spark lighting flames for a moment. "Unless you're okay with being under the constant protection of...us..." The law wasn't exactly too much of a concern for those of the Vongola all things considered. I want to see the splendor of people's souls. Makoto had no words to say right now, he felt so tired. All he wanted to do was go home. Let Ryuu and Rika do whatever they wanted. At this point he just didn't care or know if he could trust them. They had basically lied to him. Yet it could have been because of what he was involved in though that did not make him feel any happier or better about it. Ryuu could have mentioned something. Maybe Rika could too at least once they started finding assassins after him. Just how long had they been doing that. Were the ones trying to kill him being killed? It wasn't liked he knew much about this to begin with. Makoto had not been aware someone was trying to kill him. Though perhaps if he hadn't been so tired he would have noticed something. But work took a lot out of him as always. Nothing needed to be said, he was too tired. This could be talked about later when Makoto actually felt up to it. However right now he did not know when or if that would ever happen. He had more things on his mind. Quite a few darker, and harder things to get past of course. Simple thoughts really no matter how one looked at them correct? Of course he was not about to say that. Nothing left to really say as far as he was concerned. Makoto rubbed his eyes and winced from the pain in his arm. Really this was not how he wanted it to go. But he couldn't say he was that upset about it. He learned a few things that maybe bothered him but they had also gone to tell him. When Mafia was not supposed to do that he was pretty sure. It was a huge risk when they did not know if he would betray them or not right now. "Tch, so Arashi was involved too. That explains a lot." Makoto stood up and just grumbled. He was trying to not get too annoyed with this but it was a bit too late right now. He wanted to just go home. Anything to keep his mind away from the shit that had happened here. The things he had learned from that little incident. Why Ryuu thought that Gavril was precious seemed rather weird. But hey let him think whatever. "Still not sure why you think he's some precious person when he wants to murder you it seems." Makoto was starting to piece little bits of this together. Those incidents with Ryuu being arrested and all. Much of this was making a bit more sense even if he didn't want it too. Makoto only shrugged but he didn't refuse. He knew how his daughter would like being around them. And he couldn't expose her to that world either. He had at least enough sense not to do that. Makoto still said nothing. He'd stay for one night then go back home the next day. If only because he did not want to go home yet. "I don't want to be under the protection of anyone. But keep pushing those rings on me and you might be limping home. I just found out people I trusted were part of the fucking mafia. At least let me process this." Makoto stormed away from them to cool down a bit and wait to go home. He was irritated with all of this and it had just happened. If they had stopped pushing the ring thing, he might be able to calm a little. He'd just been shot after all which was normal for being a cop.But he didn't usually find out things like this at the same time. RYUU YAMAMOTO, RINGO SHIRO |

We were the fire on the moonlit skies Ryuu didn't really know what else to say to Makoto about everything. Neither of them had told him about their second life and they hadn't even told him that he was being hunted by assassins. They'd merely kept him safe from the shadows. Ryuu sighed, heavily as he debated on what to say. Why didn't he tell him? Besides being unable to...but now he had and he wasn't sure how some of the families that the Vongola dealt with - allied or otherwise would take the news that the Vongola's rain guardian had broken Omerta to a police officer none the less and was getting away with it. The Vongola had a history with the Vindice, so they did usually let them slide on little infractions...but he wasn't sure how well they would handle this. The chance that Makoto could use his new knowledge to attack the Vongola would be a risk. Ryuu's voice was soft, but resolute. "I had no reason to tell you before this...even telling you now, with your life in danger, is putting me and my family at risk. Some families, even small ones, might not take kindly to the knowledge that I've broken Omerta and will worry that I will use your job as a reason to attack us."
Ryuu tilted his head back to stare up at the ceiling. The Vongola wasn't as strong as it had been in the past. They'd had two recent bosses who didn't last long, either from passing away due to an assassination and then another retiring due to stress. People still tried to avoid getting into conflict with them directly, but there was always that chance these days. The Varia handled a lot of jobs dealing with taking out threats and it was those jobs that Arashi usually had Ryuu do, since he was the "blessed shower that washed away conflict," he would deal with any threats before the chance of conflict arose, even if it meant wiping out an entire mafia family who were against the Vongola or allies to do so. Until they got a strong boss who could bring them back up to what hey had been during Tsunayoshi's era or even Vongola the Ninth's. Their previous boss had not been that leader. He'd retired only after a few years. "The Vongola is without a leader...there are those who will use this as a reason to attack us..." Ryuu tilted his head back down to meet Makoto's gaze with his bright blue eyes. "However, my mother and I have considered you family for a long time..." he brushed a strand of hair behind his ear before speaking, his voice even. "Whether you want it or not, you are family and therefore under our protection, Vongola or otherwise. We protect our own. Even if you hate us for lying to you...we've done it to protect you and ourselves from retaliation...you can hate us all you want, but we're still going to protect you...even if we have to continue doing it from the shadows. I'm not going to lose anybody else that I care about."
He didn't know what else he could say, but he knew that Makoto would need time to process everything. He did give Ringo a sharp look as he pushed the other's buttons even more. "Ringo...please stop. This is a lot for him to handle...let's not add in anything else It can wait. If flames manifest, I'll get him a ring...maybe a box, but it depends on his flames." Basically he was reiterating what the other had said...but whatever. He made his way towards the exit, as the second-in-command of the Foundations trailed after then, car keys in hand. Why would anybody bother CEDEF to come pick them when the Foundation was right there and likely to have something to drive. "So...Rika-dono's place, right?" The other asked as he lead them to a garage and a nice-looking black sports car. The car blinked at being unlocked as he helped Ryuu slide into the backseat, offering the front to Ringo.
The ride back to Rika Yamamoto's place was dead silent for the most part. Ryuu had fallen asleep in the backseat, his head uncomfortably against the window. It seemed his own injuries and the stress of the last few days and the stress of that night finally somewhat took its toll. Since they took a slightly more roundabout away - since they had to drive along a path that lead out of the forest, it took a bit to get home...
Rika met them at her front door, maintaining a somewhat passive look on her face. For anybody who could recognize the intent to kill though, or anybody besides cute little girls who didn't know fear. It was rather scary because Rika had perfected the art of acting cheerful and overly pleasant and like an airhead...but now it just seemed that it had melted away. She was fully dressed and she wandered out towards the car, noticing that Ryuu fallen asleep and that Ringo was in the front. She looked at Makoto, thoughtfully for a moment before speaking. "She's on the couch right now, about half-asleep...Hana is watching her." she stated casually, flashing a smile as she opened the door to Ryuu's side. He made several noises of protest in his half-asleep state as Rika managed to pick him up. "You never used to be this heavy..." she snorted, surprised by his weight...then again. It had been a long time since she'd had to carry him like this as a little kid.
She looked at Ringo and then at Rentaro's second-in-command, before finally settling down on Makoto and taking them back inside, carrying Ryuu who was still half-out of it and sleepy, and thus, had submitted to the ministrations of his mother because why not. She settled him on the other end of the couch, opposite of Makoto's daughter after detaching his arms from around her neck and shoulders. She turned to face Makoto, her gaze unreadable. "Ryuu's probably told you by now...I won't say anything, but you are and will always be welcome here...and if you are going to be mad, be angry with me...not at Ryuu...but...if you want to stay the night...that would probably be best right now...the two of you can take the guest and my room and Ringo can take Ryuu's old room," she gave a pleasant smile, it not quite reaching her eyes. "Ryuu won't be going up stairs tonight...so he'll just have to couch crash tonight..." The mention that they could take her room was enough information, besides her being fully dressed with her boxes dangling from her neck on a necklace, as well as a bag of rain rings hanging from a belt loop. She grinned, it not reaching her eyes and she spoke evenly. "I'm going hunting tonight, like a good little wildcat and seeing what rats I can catch."
Ryuu grumbled something, before resting his head on the arm of the couch, obviously not wanting to even move from the couch. He was awake to awareness, but not complete awareness. He just wanted sleep and for everything to be okay now. He wanted Makoto not to be mad at him...but it would be for awhile that the other likely was.

"Looks like I'm guarding the place..."
"I don't want to be under the protection of anyone. But keep pushing those rings on me and you might be limping home. I just found out people I trusted were part of the fucking mafia. At least let me process this." "I hate to say this but please actually be in a condition to carry out your threat.""Ringo...please stop. This is a lot for him to handle...let's not add in anything else It can wait. If flames manifest, I'll get him a ring...maybe a box, but it depends on his flames." Ringo sighed. Ryuu actually had a point there. He and Ringo had a life time to get used to this insanity. Officer Makoto here had only this night to get used to the concept of dying will flames and the unique criminal world they're apart off. "Alright then."... The group moved to cars. Seems like CEDEF's services won't be needed after all. Before Ringo entered the car, he lit up his lighting ring a little and opened his box weapon. Black metal gauntlets and greaves began to appear over him before he entered the car. It might just be a car ride, but it didn't hurt to be safe. Thankfully the drive wasn't that long, in fact, Rika Yamamoto herself was there to greet the party. As Ringo walked out of the car, he waved hello. "She's on the couch right now, about half-asleep...Hana is watching her." Ringo arched an eyebrow but then remembered that it was mentioned that the officer had family. "You never used to be this heavy..." Rika said as she picked up Ryuu. Ringo decided to help the group into the house. Ryuu was placed on to the couch. As Ringo settled himself he noticed a girl asleep on the couch as well. She must be the family that was mentioned. A smile was upon Ringo's face as he saw the two. Hopefully these two will have a good sleep for the night. He turned over to Rika who began speaking. "Ryuu's probably told you by now...I won't say anything, but you are and will always be welcome here...and if you are going to be mad, be angry with me...not at Ryuu...but...if you want to stay the night...that would probably be best right now...the two of you can take the guest and my room and Ringo can take Ryuu's old room," "Wait Ya-" "Ryuu won't be going up stairs tonight...so he'll just have to couch crash tonight..." Ringo was about to ask what about Rika but then his eyes scanned her and noticed that she was armed. "I'm going hunting tonight, like a good little wildcat and seeing what rats I can catch." There was some nervous laughter from Ringo's part. But he cleared his throat. He had his own declaration to make. "Yamamoto-san, I don't think you need to give me Ryuu's old room. I don't think he'd appreciate it." Ringo joked. "I will be patrolling tonight. I'll make sure to guard everyone in this house. If something happens to them, responsibility falls on me." Ringo prepared to begin his patrol but before he did, he looked over at Makoto. He took a deep breathe. "Sorry, for my behavior earlier." With that he started to begin his night patrol. I want to see the splendor of people's souls. Makoto wasn't even sure he wanted to hear anything else, right now he'd just have to figure it out all on his own. A really simple thought in his mind wasn't it? Perhaps he'd have to figure it out later on when he was sleeping. It might come to him in a dream or something. Either way his little girl was waiting for him. Makoto had duties to perform as a father. Right now he'd just ignore the rest of this conversation. None of them would entirely understand how he felt. But with that being said Makoto could only wonder if he should accept that he was lied to. Accept that nothing worked in his favor. He was not sure if he was thrilled about that or not at the very least. Sighing lightly he just did his best to relax, focus on other matters at least. "Just because I was shot does not mean I am weak." He could still put up quite the fight if he wanted too. Though with people who had flames it was only a matter of how long would he last with them. "My job isn't important anymore. I suppose it doesn't matter to think about it now." After all he knew this guys mom was going to be bothered. Highly bothered at that even if he'd rather avoid the idea all together. It was just not going to be one moment of help no matter how he looked at it anyway. Of course with that being said he needed to figure out just what to do. What to say, and how to think of this. After all it was not like he knew what might be coming next into all of this situation. He was hardly lucky to have things go over so easily. Shrugging his shoulders he just yawned and settled into the car. Ryuu was tired, Makoto was tired. Ringo was whatever Ringo was. But they all had things to do. He got it, this could be a huge threat in a way. Even if he was just one person. But as they arrived there all he wanted to find was his little girl. "Thank you, and I don't know what I am. I just want to go to sleep and not deal with this right now. Well of course not he's no longer a scrawny little kid. I'm going upstairs, we can talk about this later. Though I do have to wonder who you are hunting." He was sure it had to do with the idiots who shot Ryuu honestly. Makoto would have done the same if it'd been his kid after all. In response to what Ringo said he only shook his head. He wasn't that bothered about it. He just wanted to go rest. So that was what he would do. He'd at least try to sleep for a little while. Maybe he could at least forget about how this had happened, and everything else. Makoto just wandered up to get his little girl, and curl up with her. Anything to get his mind off of this. RYUU YAMAMOTO, RINGO SHIRO |
