Luca's personality has been developed a lot by his experiences in life as one of the Estraneo mafia family's child experiments. His experiences, allow him to be a bit of an empath when it comes to feeling the pain of others, especially in children. When he first joined the police force in Italy, he was part of a unit that specialized in child abuse cases and other cases involving children. His skill and ability to deal with children makes him a caring individual. He's loyal and a man with integrity because they're traits that he cultivated in the military. He's fairly intelligent in the sense that he did get into a high-end military school, as well attended university to become a police officer afterwards.
Luca's social abilities aren't the greatest as he was left out of some important social growth in his life. He has virtually no tact, being incredibly blunt, often speaking his mind instead of sugar-coating it. He's pretty closed off and doesn't like letting people in, or knowing about his past. He often keeps his left eye covered because he doesn't like the questions that arise from his heterochromia. He can be sort of cold and rather aloof because he doesn't like talking to people all the time and would rather spend time alone and away from people who grate on his nerves, like morons. Although, if you force him to spend time with you he's a bit of a doormat in the sense he really can't say no to certain people. His childhood left him a little bit unstable and he's highly capricious in the sense he is a little bit flighty and irresponsible at times because he wants to be. He has to always be responsible and he likes being able to act reckless and irresponsible.

Luca's knowledge from his family all second-hand. He has never met his birth parents, but from what he has been told. He does not want to. The bastard son of a small time mafia boss, Luca was an attempt at creating a Sky Flame to take over his family. None of his other children from his wife produced a Sky flame, so he tried with another woman.
When Luca was born, not a Sky flame like his 'father' had hoped, the man deemed him a failed 'experiment' and automatically sent him to the black market to be sold as a baby so his infidelity to his wife would be left in the dark.
Luca was...purchased by the remnants of the Estraneo mafia family and he spent most of his childhood with them. Luca's right golden eye is not his own, but an attempt at creating a hybrid flame like the Flames of Wrath. The eye had belonged to a Sky flame user and implanted into Luca, with his own eye being surgically removed against his will when he was four. After that, the Estraneo began to hopefully try to bring out sky flames in the child in hopes that their experiments on him work. They regularly forced him and the other young experiments to fight it out, in hopes that their 'dying will' would surface as sky flames or some sort of hybrid form, like Wrath flames.
The Estraneo managed to remain out of the gaze of the Vindice, Vongola, and Mukuro Rokudo's Kokuyo Gang, but for some reason...the Italian police had done something marginally brilliant and found out about them before the mafia even did. The police led a raid on the base of the Estraneo, arrested many of the members and finding the evidence of their experiments on children, including the children. Some had been kidnapped from their families, others the children of Estraneo members, or purchased off the black market where no records of them existed. Many of these children were sent into foster homes.
Luca himself was adopted by one of the police officers on the task force that had dealt with with the problems. Luca was one of the children that had been there the longest as well as being one of the oldest at the age of eight - by the age of ten, the Estraneo dubbed them 'failures' or 'successes.' Failures were disposed of by selling them back on the black market or at, probably the best for them, killed. 'Successes' were placed in a force they would eventually use against other mafia families.
Luca himself was adopted by the police officer who had lead the raid. The younger children were easier to adopt out and hadn't been there near as long as he had, the man didn't want to place him with a family who wouldn't know how to deal with any issues that may arise in the future.
Luca's life with his adoptive father, a single and widowed man, were some of the best he can remember. Granted, there was no comparing a normal life to somebody who'd been abused in ways one couldn't understand. He went to school on a regular basis and even took up martial arts and archery. When children start thinking about what they wanted to do when they grew up, Luca already knew. He wanted to be a police officer. He wasn't sure how much his past would affect him becoming one, but he knew his adoptive father was well-liked and they would take his word for it. When Luca turned eighteen, he actually joined the Italian military before going into the police force as a marine. After spending seven years in the marines he went to the police academy as well as university for a criminal justice degree. He joined the police force while also going to school and was a member of a unit that specialized in child abuse cases, news of a division of the police force opening up in Japan who could use the flames like he could hit him and he automatically joined up with them. His flames had been manifested since his days with the Estraneo, although they told him nothing about them besides that he was a 'cloud,' but they wanted him to be a 'sky' and that his own father had wanted him to be a 'sky.'
- Luca mentally rejects the eye that doesn't belong to him, although his body has never had an averse reaction to it. His own mental rejection of the eye leads him to often cover it up with an eyepatch or with his hair.
- Luca's experimentation left his cloud flames a bit different than normal cloud flames. Cloud flames are known for their slight ability to absorb other flames, Luca's capacity to absorb other flames is slightly increased for the better.
- Luca being experimented on also left their scars, but one of the most is the fact that like Ken from Mukuro's Kokuyo Gang, the Estraneo replciated Ken's abilities with the animal channels in Luca. Although, because they didn't have access to the previous research that gave him his abilities, Luca doesn't have access to near as many channels and the ones he currently does have access to are primarily feline channels. Some of his mannerisms tend to be rather catty and he has a habit of attracting stray cats to him.
- Luca is fairly lean, standing at about 5'8.
