We were the fire on the moonlit skies It was nearing the very end of the first term...which also meant it was nearing the end of not only the first term of his final year of university, but it was also nearing the time when both he and Silvia would be sharing a vacation from school together. He'd finished up all his tests for the term the previous day and he was, as usual, pretty confident with his scores. He was already at the top of his class. Well, technically he wasn't even even with his class anymore. He was in his last year because of how far ahead he'd gotten from the class he'd entered with that he was with the class ahead of him in terms of his scores.
With the end of the finals week, even for the high school where Silvia taught, he thought he'd make a nice dinner for the both of them to celebrate the end of the term. While Silvia had the rest of the term off; besides, maybe grading things from her students, Ryuu took the opportunity to work with his mother at the dojo and the sushi and ramen shop she managed. Her students tended to enjoy the four-time winner of the Japanese National Kendo tournaments coming by to offer his advice and teaching. Since he specialized in the two-sword style over his mother's one-sword style, it was a nice addition to their curriculum.
As he rifled through the apartment's fridge, he realized that neither of them had the time in the past week to actually go shopping and that he needed to while Silvia was still at work. Which definitely opened up several different foods that he could cook. "Shogayaki and rice sounds good for dinner," he mused as he closed the fridge as he wrote down a list on a notepad of things he needed. Satisfied with his last, Ryuu grabbed his house keys, cell phone, Ipod, wallet and his boxes from the table and slid the Vongola Rain Ring onto his finger. He never went anywhere without it, just in case. He'd had one too many kidnapping attempts as a child to not want to go anywhere without his weapons and his ring.
He locked the door behind him as he left, pushing one earbud into his ear, but leaving the other one dangling. He liked having at least one ear open for anybody speaking to him or attempting to sneak up on him. There'd be nothing worse that being stabbed in the back or kidnapped just because he was jamming out to music. It was nice day, early in the afternoon and plenty of time to get groceries, head home, and get dinner started before Silvia got home from work. He smiled to himself, feeling oddly and incredibly domestic the way they worked. Sometimes, it was like they were just a regular couple without being a part of the mafia. It was nice sometimes. He lightly twisting the engagement ring on his left finger, the ruby it contained burning with Silvia's storm flames that flickered within. It was how he'd designed them, having decided to use a ruby and Silvia's storm flames for his ring and a sapphire and his Rain flames for hers. They weren't in anyway usable by each other because neither of them could utilize the other's flame type, it was purely for appearances and he rather liked that.
He fiddled with the engagement ring as he walked, headed towards the grocery store, fully intent on his mission of buying groceries for dinner that evening.

Again fighting with his father and following his annoying orders. None of this sounded pleasant in Gavril's mind. but his father wanted whatever he wanted. No one else mattered unless they had some use to him, or could help him. Which was the main reason Gavril stood in front of his father right now. Orders were given, Gavril had even tried to refuse. His father only yelled at him and struck the boy. Not that it'd been the first time so he just flipped his dick of a father off and stormed out. Yes he might as well do his father's mission before he sent someone else out to do it. Which that was not what he wanted. The fuck was that stupid Yamamoto good for. Why the hell was he so important? Of course at the same time he wanted to just end this. Kill him fast then move on wit his life. Sadly he knew this was never going to be the case. His father would always find something else to attach to that he wanted.
'Going to kill him. Just to shut you up father.' The boy mumbled as he pulled off his jacket and dropped it in his car. He left his car parked in a parking lot further from the shopping distract. He had arrived earlier then Ryuu. After all he was just half aware that maybe he'd be here. Maybe he would end up coming out here to buy food just as people did after work to feed the family they so loved. He felt jealous watching these people, they had so many things he didn't have. It wasn't fair. All of this was not even fair. He'd take all of it from Ryuu till he broke down and cried, begged to die even. That would be a great thing to see. The great Yamamoto grandson begging to die because everything had been stolen from his filthy hands.
He had seen all those tournaments, all the skills Ryuu had. And he did not want to be beaten by them. Digging in his pocket he sat on top of one of the buildings now waiting for his prey. Just swinging his legs and playing with the poison coated knife that was originally in it's sheath in his pocket. Just a little bit longer and Ryuu had to show up. There was no way he'd be able to hide for very long. If he tried though then it just meant finding Ryuu's house and taking something or someone important to him. That sounded like a plan to Gavril no matter how he ended up looking at it. "Come on you dumbass show up already. This is starting to get boring." He grumbled and almost wanted to jump down already but it was too soon. Way too soon to blow his cover.
Then he spotted that asshole. It was about time he decided to show up. Tossing the poison coated knife right in front of Ryuu he jumped down and pulled the swords off of his back, not waiting to rush at Ryuu. "Let's dance pretty boy. Show some of those skills you apparently have. Or did you settling down with a woman ruin that." He didn't hesitate. No he wanted to make sure this guy knew what he was here for. Or what he wanted even.

We were the fire on the moonlit skies To be perfectly honest, Ryuu wasn't really expecting to be attacked. He never was when he was in public and in broad daylight. It was a Friday afternoon and there were so many people out and about doing their shopping before the weekend that any assassin who decided to attack somebody in broad daylight was either incredibly stupid, or an incredible assassin who could slide into the crowd, stab a guy in the back, and then slide out without notice.
This guy seemed to be of the former persuasion...considering he announced his presence. It was sloppy, definitely. There was also the option that he was pretending to be a sloppy assassin...but it didn't seem that way. Squalo drilled into his brain the art of assassination and this wasn't it. It was subtle and quick. Ryuu was quickly thrown out of his mind and thoughts as he reached for his boxes chained to his pants, but the would-be assassin was lunging towards him. There wouldn't be time to open his sword-box and defend without being first sliced to ribbons.
It was a split second reaction created by years of honing himself against katana against Squalo - who thought it funny to attack him in the middle of the night whenever he had been around him for assassination training as well as the previously thrown knife that gave him enough to be able to sway back out of the way of the katana, coat his hand in rain flames and push the flat of the blade aside. His other hand shot forward, curling into a fist as he made a clean attempt for his jaw. He drew back afterward, ignoring several screaming civilians around him. Many of which were either trying to run away, call the police, or video tape what was going on. Ryuu grimaced, taking in his options. Fight hand vs blade, which wasn't a good option...draw his swords and fight back which also wasn't a good option for all the civilians around, or bolt and go hide in the nearby CEDEF HQ. He didn't really think the latter was an option...but he also didn't want to be seen as a coward for running away. This sucked.
Ryuu's eye twitched at the blatant taunt. Who did this guy think he was? "Are you stupid? There are civilians all over the place!" he hissed, choosing not to draw his weapons for the time being. For now, he would go hand-to-sword. He did open box that contained his leather gauntlets for when he was caught in hand-to-hand combat and slid them over his hands. He dropped into a martial arts stance, inspecting his opponent clearly before commenting. "I am pretty, aren't I?" And with that, Ryuu lunged forward towards him to attack just barely finishing his statement, taking an offensive. He dropped to the ground a moment later, his foot shooting out to sweep the other off his feet.

He was not trying to be secretive about it this time, no he might be secretive another time. Perhaps slip poison into Ryuu's food or something. But at the same time he wanted to be the one to cut his head off, and not leave it to some poison or anything else. A pretty simple thought right? Of course his father would not likely be that happy about that one. Of course he was supposed to kill the guy it didn't entirely matter how he died? Or who did it? They just wanted him dead. Kidnapping had failed so might as well kill the asshole who was working with those people who took his family away. The start of everything had been that day he died. Gavril was stuck being the puppet for his father to tug at for anything he wanted. This one time his killing may be a bit of a sloppy killing, or attack. But Gavril didn't care. The boy did not want to care. All he fucking wanted was his father to notice him. It wasn't wrong to want that now was it?
"I honestly don't give a fuck. Those people run away from anything, I could have done this easier but you took someone from me you asshole!" He was angry, the frustration written all over his face but he didn't let it control him. He had to focus on fighting Ryuu but not letting his anger win over everything right now. He held the swords in his hand and glared at Ryuu now. He had no plans to stop about all of this. No he had a lot of rage dwelling in his core and he was not about to forget. At that same moment it'd probably not matter. Ryuu would likely not fight back too, the idea of a fight out here in front of civilians was not a good idea. But he wanted to test a theory or two perhaps about this stupid Yamamoto brat. His family had been destroyed because of this stupid ass.
Gavril grumbled and jumped back to avoid being hit by Ryuu's fist. He did not wish to deal with this, why the fuck did he have to attack this guy? Really yes he wanted him to die but still. "You won't be when I scar that face of yours. Even that fiancee you love so much won't want to be around you when I'm done." He smirked and held the swords again, waiting for Ryuu to strike at him. He was going to play the dodge game perhaps. See how long Ryuu could go before it broke him down completely. Of course at that same moment Gavril wanted him to die. Nothing more, nothing less obviously. "You are pathetic. These people should know what you are." He sighed, and just watched him closely, flipping backwards and landing on his hands, one of the swords still clutched in his hands. He kicked in the direction on Ryuu's "pretty" Face. He was not going to back off unless the cops showed. But he'd get Ryuu arrested first if that happened.
Maybe this was a bad idea but he knew his father was watching. His father wanted this guy for whatever fucking reason.

We were the fire on the moonlit skies Ryuu could tell this was no ordinary assassination attempt. Most assassins had to keep themselves from getting too involved with the emotions surrounding their target. They couldn't feel for them because that could make an assassin hesitate. There was nothing but anger and rage behind this would-be-assassin's demeanor. So it was clear he was angry with Ryuu for some particular reason. His mind ran through names and faces and profiles of his own previous assassins and none of them had family that looked like this male. Granted, he could have missed something...people could be hidden from profiles...but as far as he was concerned, he wasn't really sure why this one was so angry with him. Then again, there was always the option that he was angry with the Yamamoto family bloodline, or the Vongola as a whole. There were so many options as to why.
Why wasn't important right now though. What was important right now was keeping himself and the civilians safe. There were definitely cops on the way...one just didn't fight in the middle of the street and not expect to get arrested unless it was deserted and people weren't watching. He had several options to go on - draw this out until the cops came and he was arrested. Granted, he would spend a little bit in a holding cell, but he knew Arashi and some of the officers well enough that he could generally just get this expunged in general. He didn't particularly like this option, but he didn't want to go into all-out mafia warfare in the middle of the day with a bunch of civilians. Silvia would be pissed with him for getting arrested at all...but there wasn't much he could do about it at this point. People had already seen him, had already reported the both of them to the police. He wasn't likely to press charges against him - it was quite obvious as to who had started the fight, but he wouldn't press charges because that could get messy.
Pulled from his strategics as well as fighting was the other male's voice. He had taken somebody from him? Confusion flashed across Ryuu's features, unsure as to what he was even talking about. Was he a loved one of one of his assassination jobs and had figured out who the particular assassin was? Couldn't be. Ryuu's assassinations were always clean. He'd been trained by the best, after all. Squalo Superbi and the rest of the Varia were loud and obnoxious, even the current Captain was loud and obnoxious in his own way, but they were professional assassins who knew their jobs better than any other assassin around. There was a reason why the Varia was considered the best team of assassins around. Hitmen aspired to become a member of the infamous Varia.
"I assure you, I have no idea what you are even talking about," Ryuu admitted, complete and utterly blunt in his tone of voice. He wasn't really sure what to do...there were far too many civilians in the area that could be put in danger if the two of them went full out. He was going to have to go with Plan A - get arrested when the police showed up. It wasn't like it was going to stay on his record. They had mafioso within the police force who could edit and erase files with nobody the wiser to it. He just wasn't looking forward to sitting in a jail cell until somebody came to bail him out.
Ryuu snorted slightly and the clear threat towards his face, but the mention of his fiancee...the knowledge that this assassin knew of their relationship - it wasn't a secret or anything...but the mention of her meant that he could potentially drag her into this mess. He'd definitely have to warn her, his cousin and his mother about this. He wasn't going to kill him in broad daylight, either...so the assassin would likely get away to strike again another day. He didn't like that option much either. God damn it, civilians. Just go away and let him deal with this assassin in peace before he wound up in pieces!
"Tch...if you're trying to provoke me into attacking you by half-assed insults and commentary...then you're failing at it," Ryuu's voice shot out, annoyed with him just a little bit. He knew how to control himself against antagonizing people. He knew Arashi, after all. His friends and family who did manage to provoke him into doing something stupid aside...but he wasn't going to let a petty assassin provoke him into revealing himself to the public. Sure, he wasn't the best in hand-to-hand...but it was enough to survive until the cops showed up. He might come out with a couple injuries at the most, but this assassin wasn't going to revel in the fact that he revealed himself to the public. Let him do that.
Ryuu wasn't quite prepared enough when the other proved some of his own skill in acrobatics and hand-to-hand, but in a involuntary reaction, his flames burst into life, cushioning the blow as it landed on his jaw. It was his flames involuntary reaction to danger that saved his jaw from being broken. However, that didn't stop the slightest bit of blood from trailing out of the side of his mouth - having bitten his bottom lip. He 'tch'd' again, wiping the blood from his mouth.
It was quite easy to tell that Ryuu honestly wasn't fighting at his best; between his lack of katana usage and the fact that there were multitudes of civilians around that he didn't want to get involved. If he could get his hand on one of the other's katana...then it would be over. He specialized in dual handed katana, but since most of his national kendo tournament fights were with one...he could make due. He was definitely better with a sword then he was with his fists, after all. Ryuu moved, his movements graceful and not a useless movement in sight and it was something of a miracle that his mother had forced him to take ballet as a child. He moved forward towards his assassin methodically, planning his movements carefully before he moved forward, jabbing at the other several times in quick, rapid shots before suddenly spinning around to the other, his hands suddenly coated in rain flames as he continued several more jabs, these ones more precise as he aimed for the pressure points on his arms.
It was a skill Ryuu had honed during years of studying human anatomy in medical school - pressure points and what particular ones do. He was not only aiming to disarm him of one of his katana, but also to make one of his limbs completely useless for several moments. It was a technique he tended to use when he found himself unarmed against an armed opponent.

There was little he could do to get out of this, He'd been tossed into this from the moment he was born. The moment his father had a heir to put his rage into. And of course for Gavril there had been no escaping it. His father controlled everything he did through violent means as per usual. It was why he never truly made friends or let people get too close to him. Did he want to be the reason they died? No of course not, he would rather be the one killing people then be the connection that got people killed. Ryuu was just another target, no connection and no care. When he died this would all end. Unless his father picked another target out of that family. Which there had been hope that he wouldn't do those things. Gavril's whole life was all about eliminating the Yamamoto family and it's connections one by one till none remained. Gavril had no fear of cops, he had no plans to give information to them either. The hell did it matter if he got caught? Or perhaps got Ryuu caught and escaped with no problem.
Let the losers come, he had his own ways of getting out of things. And of course he was a hired killer who knew how to cover his own tracks if desired. As of now though none of it was desired. No matter how he looked at those things at this moment. This bastard had ruined his whole life. All he wanted was a normal child hood, a normal life without fighting, without training. Without being smacked or cursed at every time he did something wrong. A child learned from the parents actions so in a sense he just followed in his father's foot steps a little bit longer. No matter how he looked at it this was just how it'd be anyway. Ryuu had stepped in a mine field. One there was no longer any escaping from of course.
People who got in the way would die. If the civilians were smart they'd back off. Part of him didn't care but that other part did. It wasn't letting him go that far. It kept speaking in his head and telling him to stop before he really did kill someone, but too late now. The die had been cast, someone needed to suffer and die. There would be no getting out of that now. Gavril had fallen in way too deep at this moment. "When you figure it out, it'll be too late and you'll be dead. You and the rest of the people like you." Gavril spoke the same lecture he'd heard from his father multiple times. He had memorized it enough now that he didn't need to think about it. It just happened to be said whenever he wanted it to be said of course. Long nights of being exhausted, hungry and sick because of being over worked and over trained, and other things had never left his mind. His father always pushed him way too hard thinking he'd improve over night.
"Oh please, I don't even have to try. All it'd take is picking the right people, the right fatal wounds and you'd be on your knees. Like that dear old dad of yours...Father told me all about him." He didn't care, he was not giving away names. But might as well pick at some old wounds. Ryuu had done enough to ruin his life. Jumping back up onto his feet again he dusted off his hands and clutched the sword again. The flames that he saw, his father would be pleased a little bit maybe. Perhaps he'd get an extra reward tonight rather than something else a lot worse then he'd want to imagine. The flames had caught him off guard quite a bit perhaps or maybe he was just leaving his body open, narrowly avoiding a few of those jabs, he hissed at the numb feeling in his arm. Fuck this had gone from bad to worse but he had his training. He side stepped the last jab coated with rain flames and lunged forward head butting Ryuu hard, he felt bone against his head and ignored the shooting pain it caused. This was worth it completely, maybe it'd knock him off balance.
And if it did, He'd take the sword in his other hand by the blade and jab the hilt into Ryuu's stomach hard. Anything to knock the wind out of him, not caring twice if the blade was cutting into his own hand right now. A useless limb was not going to stop him, they could cut off his arm and he'd still be fighting. "You want to hide what you are. A killer with a style like yours cannot hide. How do you think it'll feel to die like so many people you hunted have?" He was not about to quit here, the police were likely close. And he wanted to make Ryuu suffer in any way he could.

We were the fire on the moonlit skies Ryuu still couldn't really fathom why this particular assassin seemed so...attached to wanting to kill him, especially in such a manner. He could have thrown the knife at Ryuu and poisoned him. Granted, Ryuu did know how to deal with poisons in his system, it was still likely that poison would have slowed him down enough for the other to cleanly kill him. He definitely didn't want to go that route though.
Ryuu growled lowly and the thinly veiling threat towards his family. He definitely wanted to deal with this guy and fast. Granted, he couldn't help but...feel bad for him. He seemed so angry at him and Ryuu couldn't even fathom why. He was around his age it seemed...so Ryuu was rather reluctant to have to kill him. As a doctor, he didn't want to have to kill unless he had to. It was why he wasn't an assassin full-time like the Varia were or like Shamal and his offspring had been. Shamal had been one of his tutors when it came to medical practices...although, it took a date from his mother to get the man to even agree to teach Ryuu.
Red clouded over Ryuu's vision. How dare he. How dare he bring his father into this. The dead should stay that way; dead. There was no reason to bring his dead father up at all...especially because it had been so long since his death. There were a lot of issues surrounding his father's death to Ryuu. He'd been young when he had died, seven or so...so his memories of the man were hazy and he absolutely hated that. Several men in his life had tried to step up, to fill in the shoes that could never be filled. His mother had lost a child due to her own injuries and the stress of a lost husband. Despite the length of time that had passed, the wounds of the heart caused by his father's death were still raw and in pain. His father would never have a father-daughter dance with Silvia at their wedding, never see his grandchildren...and he hated that.
He almost lost it there, ready to pull out his katana and slice this other man to pieces. But the way he also mentioned his father as well as the fact that Ryuu couldn't let his anger get the best of him, it could turn deadly. He didn't bring up the other's father, nor did he comment while he incapacitated the other. He was mad and it was quite easy to tell that he was. He'd almost managed to disarm the other of his blade, when something hard crashed into his face. Did the little brat just headbutt him? And jab the hilt of his sword into his stomach. Ryuu stumbled back a few feet, backing off for a moment. Blood was pouring out of his nose and Ryuu felt the area, grimacing at the pain that radiated through it. Broken. Of course. It wasn't like he hadn't broken his nose before - it was an occupational hazard when you fought people. Bones got broken.
"You broke my nose. Jerk," Ryuu finally commented as he gently rubbed rain flames into the broken cartilage as he forced it back into place at the same time. Blood still trickled out of it, but it wasn't near as bad with the application of rain flames. Ryuu wiped his upper lip of blood, eyes gleaming with something more than just anger about the commentary towards his father or his broken nose. This was exhilarating, to be honest! There were so few people outside of his own family or contacts that could take him in a fight...and despite his position as a doctor, fighting was one of Ryuu's favorite pastimes. He liked goading people like Arashi or Noboru, or even his cousin Ryker into a fight just to get the adrenaline rushing and the chance to merely fight. He was a little bit of an adrenaline junkie at times and it was a fabulous thing.
The cops would likely be there any minute...but he wanted to keep fighting. He wanted to finish this fight. If they showed up and he wasn't done, he was likely to drag them into it just so he could finish the fight that the other started. He wasn't going to get away. And if he wanted him to show off his sword style so badly...well, he would. Just not in the method he needed it
Ryuu smirked as he moved, but not towards his opponent. Rain flames coated his foot as he slammed it into a fire hydrant, effectively breaking the object open. Water sprayed everywhere, raining down onto the ground. Ryuu thought about it for a second, realizing that he was causing destruction of property...but hey, he didn't cause this fight. Besides, he'd just pay to replace it when he was arrested for all this crap. He'd gone and accepted the fact that he was probably going to be arrested after all this...but he didn't care. He was going to end this fight.
Shooting forward through the falling waters, Ryuu made a straight-forward punching jab towards his face. However, while the other was interested in the one in front, he wouldn't realize that it was just a reflection in the water and made of rain flames. Ryuu dropped down from above him and slammed his elbow into the middle of his back. Ninth form. Duplicate rain in hand-to-hand format.
Meanwhile, the fire hydrant he had broken off, not only had the hydrant itself smashed into a cart, the water was soaking the tender of the cart who was now sobbing about "his cabbages," because the hydrant had crashed into the cart and broken it with several cabbages rolling around the ground as he made haste trying to pick them up.

Gavril wished he could just stop this but no he was already stuck in over his head. Way more then he liked, more then he wanted to deal with. All of those things. Sighing lightly he felt a lot of stress bothering him now. The idea of failing his father would be harder to handle now. He had to at least do something useful, gain some more information about this stupid Yamamoto. How fucking annoying that whole family was, why couldn't they just drop off the face of the earth and never come back. It'd be better for everyone if that happened. No one else would have to die. And Gavril would be able to have his normal life that he might have secretly craved since he was a child. He had no care towards people, it was likely one of those things he'd been raised without. If they were on his hit list they died. Killing Ryuu silently was not how he wanted to play things this time.
Those threats he had to make were not going to change. His father had put all of these images in his head, and he didn't entirely like it. But it had to be done. No getting past any of it anymore. He had to focus back on the fight instead of letting his own thoughts distract him. After all the boy did wish to live, no matter how he looked at this. He wanted to at least be able to live for a little while longer. He hated all of these people. Why the fuck did they have to ruin his life? The Yamamotos, his father and anyone else who had some obsession they tried to use him for anyway. It was a a basic stupid moment where someone was manipulated. The very reason he had brought up Ryuu's father is because he knew how it'd tick him off. He knew how to push his buttons and do those things. His father had taught him well even if he was using them poorly right now.
The dead never stayed dead. It was not how it'd work. Ryuu was going to have to deal with this now. The fact that his father would never be able to do anything. His father was dead, never coming back. Simple as that really. There was not anything else they could do no matter how much they wanted too. The wounds would have to be dealt with. There was no way to ignore them, one just had to embrace it and use it for there own means. Just how everything else in this whole world went. He just laughed and shook the blood off of his hand and holding onto the hilt. "Tch, could have been worse, don't turn into a whiny brat now Yamamoto grandchild." He huffed in frustration, all of this was freaking annoying. Ryuu bothered him so much all because of his father.
He should have done something, but people were still watching. Why the hell did people have to watch? Some ran away like smart people and yet others just watched them like they were a sideshow act. Gavril knew that the cops were likely going to show up. People had called them, he should run but did he want to run from the fight? Deal with his father being disappointed all over again. Of course that was not shocking either. His father was always disappointed no matter what he did. Gavril tilted his head confused about this guy's actions. He was going a different direction, and not fighting now? Was he chickening out? Gavril should know not to assume so he would just have to wait but he was so frustrated with this bullshit. The water should have felt nice and relaxing but this was a bad idea. He knew Ryuu's flame type. So this had to be plotted, he was up to something again. And Gavril was the target because he put himself in that position.
Gavril reached up to block the punch, he was not entirely aware of this technique. He knew only so many but of course he'd learn a few more now wouldn't he? He hissed at the elbow in his back and fell forward, barely managing to catch himself. He swung his leg around trying to kick Ryuu back from him, the sword being the least of his concern right now. The sound of the man whining about his cabbages was completely lost on Gavril right now. He had forgotten everything but dealing with Ryuu at this point. Ryuu almost knocking him off his feet had pissed him off after all, this guy was good and he wasn't prepared for that either. He had been waiting to kill this guy, but now he felt as if this was just a back and forth game cause of those stupid citizens.

We were the fire on the moonlit skies When this particular assassin had decided to attack Ryuu, he had gone in way over his head and Ryuu knew it. He couldn't let himself get cocky about it though. This could just be a front and then he suddenly pulls out something he hadn't been expecting and bam...it would be over. He didn't want that. Besides the fact that he was deriving some form of enjoyment from this fight, he just wasn't ready to die yet. He didn't want to leave anybody behind to mourn him. He didn't want to put Silvia or his mother through the death of a loved one again. He wanted to be alive to protect those he cared about.
"Tch...Yamamoto grandchild? My name is Yamamoto Ryuunosuke. Remember it," Ryuu responded coolly. He wasn't going to be measured by the achievements of his grandfather, or his mother. He was Yamamoto Ryuunosuke, not the grandchild of Yamamoto Takeshi nor the son of Yamamoto Rika. He was Ryuu. "I don't expect to be measured by the achievements of my family...I earned my title and my achievements." Yamamoto was a common surname in Japan, anyway and not everybody managed to connect Yamamoto Ryuunosuke to Yamamoto Takeshi.
Gavril's kick connected with his side, but Ryuu didn't register the fact that it had. He skidded back a few feet, his eyes alight with the adrenaline rushing through his veins. He made a movement to continue his offense...when a hand was placed upon his shoulder. Ryuu reacted as anybody would react during a fight and somebody was interfering. His hand wrapped around the offender's wrist and Ryuu was pulling him over his shoulder and hurling him towards Gavril, assuming the man was backup. Ryuu noticed the glimpse of a police badge, but it was too late. He'd already thrown the officer into his opponent.
Ryuu's cheeks turned a bright shade of red as he noticed his mistake. "Oh my god. I'm so sorry...I didn't...why would you do that!" With that, Ryuu held up his hands, looking about as embarrassed as a kouhei talking to his senpai. He then did something very childish and pointed at the other like a petulant child. "He started it. I just wanted to go grocery shopping...oh god. oh god. Silvia's gonna murder me..." He promptly held out his hands to one of the officers. "...you know what? I think I'm safer in jail than I am going home to my fiancee...why did I think this was a good idea."

This boy was ticking him off, however he'd rather not talk about it. Since of course it was probably not going to improve matters to begin with. Sighing a bit he just wanted this to end now. To end Ryuu's life rather quickly but no it was not happening. Sadly this was probably his own fault, He had dug himself a giant bit no matter how else he wanted to look at it. Ryuu and Gavril were always going to go at it, there would never be any avoiding it. No matter what they did or how they wanted to avoid things. A simple thought now wasn't it? At least he planned to believe it was like that. Gavril's father was likely pleased yet annoyed as he watched this fight from wherever he'd stationed himself anyway. That pervert of an old man was likely getting turned on by whatever was happening here, he'd probably be doing dirty things. That Gavril did not wish to imagine his father doing. It just had too much dirty written all over it honestly.
That and he didn't want to get his ass kicked by Ryuu. That had not been his plan for coming out here and confronting him in this way after all. "Oh I know your name. I just don't give much of a fuck about it. You don't know my name, and I could care less if I know yours..You are just a useless, annoying Yamamoto to me. And you will fall like the ones before you have." He was not mincing his words. After all his anger, his frustration. All of that was starting to surface the longer he had to deal with this guy. But he'd been raised to feel that. His father had wanted Gavril to be his little weapon for whatever he needed. Killing Ryuu, killing anyone. All of this was just another part of his father's plan. What else could he say? Besides pick at Ryuu's father and his lack of strength though he even knew it was not true.
Gavril disliked that he had to listen to what his father said or what he desired. That man did not deserve a damn thing for as long as he was living. Did he even have to deal with this right now? Those negative second thoughts that would keep him back from the task at hand. "You earned them, but that is not entirely what this is about. You won't have any of that when I'm done with you." That was a pretty simple thought though of course Ryuu was not going to know what exactly he had planned right? Since of course he was not pointing it out that much either. The kick connecting sent adrenaline through his body. He loved feeling this from fighting. It was a great idea no matter how he saw it. He was just way too violent of a person maybe. Or he had picked a fight with a person that could handle him and interested him as well.
Gavril had not been thinking that a police officer would be tossed at him. All he could do was catch the man and set him down carefully, the guy seemed mostly unharmed though his arm would likely hurt. Ryuu was a dumbass wasn't he? To toss a cop like that. Just how high was he. "Jeez man, you have no common sense do you? Throwing a cop, even I'm not that bad. But you are acting like a child. I could say you started it you know? Because you sir, don't exactly think do you. You are so whipped." He rolled his eyes and yawned, he thought about running away but he was no chicken. He'd get away pretty easily thanks to his father and no record would remain. After all the boy barely had any records around his own existence anyway. He picked up a cabbage and tossed it at Ryuu's head then folded his hands behind his head. Looked like prison was happening, or well a temporary few hours in jail. Not a bad thing really. He was not worried.

We were the fire on the moonlit skies They really had both dug themselves into a pit. If Ryuu would have just pulled out his katana, he probably could have ended this fight awhile back...could have avoided a lot of problems that were arising from taking the time to fight hand-to-katana instead of katana-to-katana...although, now that he thought about it. He didn't really see the other use his katana; so, he honestly couldn't tell the level of skill the other had. Since he was most likely going to be back, Ryuu was going to be ready next time! He wanted to fight full out without having to worry about anybody else besides himself.
As the other retorted to Ryuu's own statement about who he was, Ryuu couldn't help but snort. "Others that have fallen before me? If you think that's supposed to be intimidating...it's really not," Ryuu taunted, this amused smirk on his face. He'd gotten over his initial rage and his own father being dragged into this, but now he was just trying to further goad the other into a fight. He was having fun and there was nothing stopping him at the moment. His own sense of reasoning was flying straight out the window and it was only the sliver that remained keeping him from drawing his katana...besides, sometimes he liked being able to kick somebody's ass without the katana. It was fun.
The ironic thing was that Ryuunosuke was the last person to want to fight, the one who tried to be reasonable and tried to talk things out...but if somebody dragged him into a fight and get him worked up like that? Screw reason. He would be, not only the hardest to drag out of his fighting, but the one ready to continue fighting at a moment's notice. It was a problem that apparently he'd inherited from his father, who was always ready to fight the other men who dared hit on his wife. Then again, his mom wasn't as much as a princess as the males who hit on her had made her out to be. They thought she was airheaded and rather dense, but they didn't realize that she was fairly calculating when she wanted to be and generally found them fumbling over her amusing. She was an evil one behind her airheaded exterior. He almost wondered what she would have been like if his grandfather and Tsunayoshi hadn't dropped her on her head as a baby...
Which is why, when the police showed up...his urge to fight was still there and he'd thrown the police officer who'd dumbly didn't announce his presence to the fighting young men. Oh...and then the other threw a cabbage. A growl of annoyance filtered out of Ryuu's lips as he removed a piece of cabbage from his hair, grabbed another cabbage and threw it back towards the other...only to miss and hit the poor police officer he'd thrown in the face instead. Ryuu turned, if possibly, even brighter. "Oh god. Dude. I'm sorry...I'm seriously not doing this on purpose...." Ryuu held up his hands in surrender again, looking quite abashed over the fact that his aim was awful and this was the entire reason why he hadn't followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, or his mother when it came to baseball - softball in his mother's case. Throwing things just wasn't his forte. His father had been an archer...and Ryuu had given archery a few times growing up, and hadn't been awful...but if it came to throwing a baseball? Horrible. Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a ball. "I'm done. I'm totally done now."
--x--
Several hours later, Ryuu was actually pretty calm by this point. He was leaning against the wall, casually. Although, he was still incredibly wired up from his fight. He wanted to finish it. He wasn't done yet. His body had worked itself up into a frenzy of wanting to fight. It was awful. He was debating on who he wanted to call, at this point. His mother was viable, as always. He really didn't want this reaching Silvia's ears, as this undoubtedly would. Both her and Silvia were his last options. There was his grandfather...but Yamamoto Takeshi was far enough away that it would probably be the next morning that he arrived and Ryuu wasn't about to spend the night in jail.
He sighed, glancing up at the ceiling for a moment. "I suppose there's Arashi...I'll need him anyway, but I'd rather only owe him one favor, not multiple ones..." He mused, out loud to himself. He supposed he could always just break out...but if he had wanted to do that, he wouldn't have been arrested in the first place. "Arashi it is..." he muttered, unhappily. He'd have to owe the other a favor anyway to remove the record of him being arrested...but he'd make it three because he was definitely going to challenge the other to a fight because of how wired he still was. Arashi had studied law, anyway...so Ryuu would have most likely used him as his lawyer in the first place, but he knew several guys who could do that too that were Vongola members. Dealing with the property destruction would just be a matter of paying for the damages, the assault charge on the police officer might be harder to deal with...but they could negotiate something. Mandatory anger management...or something. Who knows. He'd just rather the record be erased, though.

I want to see the splendor of people's souls. Honestly this whole thing had gone from bad to weird, what the fuck was this guy even talking about. Ryuu and Gavril had been going at it, then cops got involved. He would have laughed if the situation had been different honestly. However right now he had no plans to talk about this either, what good would it do. Gavril ignored Ryuu's comment and the snort as he yawned. He was not sure he wanted to even deal with this. For that moment he was stuck in his own little world. It seemed now he was going to be arrested. Oh well Gavril knew his father was watching, so his father would get him out of here rather fast. Sighing lightly he just waited for this bull shit to end. Only waking up for a moment to laugh about the cabbage hitting the cop. Ryuu's aim really did suck didn't it? His father had not mentioned that to him. But of course he was not going to end up caring all that much either way. It'd probably not matter. The boy felt that things were going through his head anyway. This guy had been stupid to not run away, or think he'd be able to stop him. Of course Gavril had no plans to let this all go. He had his own rage that was starting to bother him all over again. Shrugging it off he waited till he was ushered away into the car with Ryuu, sitting next to him was probably a bad idea. But oh well, he was not able to fight yet they had taken the only weapon in his hands away. Now they had it and his father was likely already waiting for him at the police station because of his stalker nature anyway. Hours later he was stuck there with Ryuu, grumbling a little bit. He did not even want to deal with this anymore and his father was appearing now he was sure of that. He could feel his father's eyes on him as the man watched the two of them. Followed by a familiar cop at least to Ryuu, the man looked frustrated and tired still dressed up in his every day clothes and not his uniform. His gun was clipped to his side as the pair came to a stop. - x - [ Switches to Makoto here, lame post ish. ] "What am I going to do with you Ryuu. What are you doing getting into a fight?" Honestly Makoto was over this. He was just way too tired to even be at work at this point. His little girl was not used to this town yet, he hadn't been back here all that long either anyway. Honestly this was just going to be hell wasn't it? Well maybe not because of Ryuu's parent, but of course he'd figure it out later. Right now he had to just deal with this and Gavril's creepy dad. The one person he'd rather not talk to. A cancer stick pressed between his lips as he waited to hear Ryuu speak. He was not sure what he was even supposed to do other then attempt to explain this to Ryuu's mother. Unless he'd just let Ryuu do it. This whole him getting arrested thing was so stupid to think about. Honestly he was already just pissed off from not having a day off to get settled in again. He wanted to be with his daughter right now but he was here instead. Though of course he did need the money. He looked over at Gavril's father. "Get your damn son out of my sight before I get you arrested too. He started a fight and this guy shouldn't have continued it but take your boy or I'll gonna make sure that order is revoked." He did not want them hanging around his prison. He barely cared either way. This guy was not his best friend or anyone he even knew so as soon as they went away it'd be just fine. He needed to have a bit of a talk with Ryuu after all before taking him home. Which by now he was surprised his mother hadn't already showed up. "This kinda reminds me of when you were too small to get out of your little playpen. So Ryuu how does it feel to take a vegetable to the face? I guess that's one way to get your daily veggie intake. You are still in trouble though, sad you are older and I still have to treat you like a baby boy." He smirked, and almost wanted to say more but not with this guy around. Gavril's father seemed to be way too creepy even for him. Makoto was trying to pretend is frustration wasn't here either now. RYUU YAMAMOTO , GAVRIL MAKLAKOV |

We were the fire on the moonlit skies He didn't really care at this point that he'd been arrested. He should have expected it. He never really thought about it before, but he was in the mafia. He'd murdered people before without batting an eyelash and yet, the fact that he could be arrested for all that had never really occurred to him. He never had to worry, though. Squalo had rigorously trained him in destroying incrimination evidence and schooled him in how to lie and produce the wanted results so nobody would know who was at fault. Granted, there were those assassins who left calling cards to announce that it was their doing...but Ryuu wasn't like that.
Ryuu had just made the decision to give Arashi a call, positive that he was in his office at this time, when Gavril and his father passed his cell. The look the man had given him made a shiver nearly go up his spine. It was just that feeling somebody got when they felt violated. He ignored the feeling and just looked at the other, his eyes saying that this wasn't over yet. Granted, he did also have Arashi's personal number too...so that was the best to call. Arashi not answering his phone usually meant he was doing a job of his own or he was just ignoring you. He answered it even when he was napping in case it was an emergency.
He tore his gaze away from the two of them as they left and a voice he hadn't heard in many long years filtered in through his ears. He was confused, for a moment. Why was he here? The man had moved out of Namimori several years ago and this was the first he'd heard of him since he left. And he was a cop and he was already making fun of Ryuu for being arrested. Ryuu got over his initial shock and rolled his shoulders in a shrug. "I was defending myself...I just let it get out of hand."
Who was still being treated like a baby boy? The comment made Ryuu's already boiling blood want to fight again, but he pushed away the feeling. "I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about, Makoto-san..." he stated, feinting ignorance about the play pen thing. "And my nose is currently partially broken, so it rather hurt to take a cabbage to the face," Ryuu admitted. The rain flames had long since worn off and now it was causing him some discomfort. He knew once he took some pain pills that acted as an anti-inflammatory, it would be right as rain...or if he took more rain flames, but he wasn't about to show them off right there.
He gave his would-be-assassin another look at the two left the room and Ryuu casually leaned back against the bars of the jail cell. "You wanna bail me out? I was just about to call a friend for a favor...but since you're here...looking rather frustrated might I add...you look super tense...that can't be good for your muscles," Ryuu stated casually, quite knowledgeable about massage therapy and what stress does to the body.
It took several moments for paperwork and whatnot and Ryuu had been bailed out of jail. He was picking up his items that had been taken from him during his arrest, shoving his leather gauntlets into his pocket - rather than the box he stored them in. His box animal box rattled a moment as his box animal tried to snipe at him for being so stupid, but Ryuu's quick movements in attaching it back to their respective chains on his pant loops had hidden the rattle decently enough. Vongola's rain ring went over his right ring finger with his engagement ring went over his left. The man who returned it gave him a look, curious about the Vongola Ring. "Those two rings of yours are interesting...not sure what the boxes are for, though."
"One's my engagement ring and the other is a family heirloom," Ryuu lied smoothly. It wasn't a completely lie - the Vongola Rain Ring had been in the Yamamoto family for the last three generations and it was his engagement ring. He didn't really say anything about the boxes; however, because they were really none of his business. It had been his mother's the last Makoto bhad seen it, probably. She may have retired from the mafia after the death of her husband, but she had maintained her stance as Rain Guardian until Ryuu was old enough to take the mantle himself.
Before he left, he left a message with one of the officers that the man he had thrown, if his shoulder was bothering him after being thrown like he had been, Ryuu would give him a free massage and free ramen from his mother's shop. He'd feel extra bad if he'd wound up injuring the man. Ryuu returned to Makoto, ready to leave the station once everything was. "Thanks, man...I owe you a favor. I'll add it to the list of favors I'm gonna owe people to fix this mess..." Ryuu admitted. He was walking backwards along the side-walk in front of Makoto, quite aware of his surroundings so he wasn't running into people. "What brings you back into town? I haven't actually seen you in years...look! I'm taller than you now." He had also been in his early teens the last they'd talked or around that age.

I want to see the splendor of people's souls. Honestly just what was he going to do? Really he'd let this guy bother him, he did not exactly trust the family of that Gavril brat anyway. More so that they'd gotten Ryuu into trouble, which Ryuu might have caused himself but still. At that same moment he was not allowing things to go the way others wanted them too. No he had to deal with Ryuu, get that boy back home before he did anything else stupid. Before he tripped over his own feet or hurt himself again. Though of course his nose was damaged but Makoto could care less right now. He was about ready to smack Ryuu, add to the injury. If he felt like it which he didn't. He just wanted to find out what happened, take him home. Figure out a few things along those lines. Of course Makoto felt tired still so he wanted to go home. Could anyone blame him there? "Obviously yes you let it get out of hand. How are we going to explain that to your mother? What do you think she'll say?" He was not mad honestly, he was over it even if he didn't look as if he was. Makoto had been a bit of a bad kid on his own, he got into fights. He made problems so he was not going to judge Ryuu, what good would that do anyway. At this moment he might as well figure something else out instead. Do a better thing rather than get into trouble now. It was why he became a cop in the first place. He could do the fighting thing within legal means. And he could still save people which killed two birds with one stones so to speak anyway. He had been gone for so long though that Namimori was taking some getting used to. He wasn't going to get as much crime out here, or so he thought. He was in the smaller division after all. And he was also supposed to be having a day off today but he had to fill in. Ryuu was just lucky in that case. "Here, take these then. And don't say I gave you those. I'm not supposed to." Makoto shoved the pills and a cup of water through the bars as he leaned against the wall. He felt way too annoyed here but he was doing his best to calm down, just because he was frustrated about not being able to be with his daughter right now. She needed but he knew his work needed him too. Of course if he hadn't been here Ryuu would be sitting in jail for another few hours till the next shift or whenever anyone picked him up. "Already done, You are just lucky I still can do that. Or your mom and someone else would have to do this. Now go get your stuff, and get all of it." He took a nice long drag from the cigarette before pinching it out and throwing it away. He would shut the door and lock it again after Ryuu went to get his things. This was just going to be a great day. "Mm let's go. Before you get into trouble or do something else. I want to get back to my daughter thank you. Not sure how she's handling time with your mother. List of favors huh? I won't ask, learned that well enough with your family. Now let's go home. You are only taller because you got the tall genes in your family it seems." He wanted to get out of here man, work was hard enough for him on a daily basis. But no right now he just wanted to go back and get his little girl. "I figured this would be a safer place to raise my little girl, and there was a job opening. So I took it." He shrugged, Makoto wasn't worried. He might as well talk about the things he was doing here, and that he had a kid now. Ryuu would find out soon enough. RYUU YAMAMOTO |

We were the fire on the moonlit skies While he may have let it get out of hand, he didn't regret his fight. He'd gotten arrested, but that would be dealt with. He didn't really understand exactly why Makoto was even angry with him. What else did he expect him to do to handle the fight? Ryuu couldn't exactly let him know that Gavril had been an assassin aiming to kill him. There was never running from an assassin especially one who had seemed to invested in Ryuu personally. He was sort of used to an assassin coming around once in awhile...it came with the job and position.
"I'm not exactly sure why you're so mad about this," Ryuu answered, truthfully. "I didn't actually start the fight..." He rolled his shoulders in a shrug, thinking about it. It really wasn't his fault...but he couldn't really understand why the other way mad. Nobody actually got hurt besides his nose and the officer he'd thrown. They were both fine. "Speaking of which...did you catch his name? I didn't have the opportunity to actually get it...we were too busy glaring at each other and plotting the other's doom on the way here...and he was sort of busy trying to disconnect my head from my shoulders during our fight. I did get some sassy and witty banter in, though." Ryuu sounded like he was exaggerating about the whole decapitation thing, but he really wasn't. Thoughtfully, Ryuu added as an afterthought. "If I'd let it truly get out of hand, there'd be a lot more damage done...I was trying to minimize people getting injured.." It wasn't that Ryuu was particularly destructive with his flames, but he didn't want people getting in his way. Although, from the fact he had wrecked a fire hydrant, he had to wonder if Arashi's destructive ways and Nobu's own habits were rubbing off on him. That couldn't be a good thing.
The fact that the other did have a daughter, though. Was certainly surprising. He'd never seemed the type to settle down and raise a family. Granted, he had stuck around during the rough times with him and his mom after his dad died. For a little bit, at least. Ryuu hadn't particularly liked the fact that he had tried to step up, as he'd felt that the other was trying to replace his dad. He'd long since gotten over that. Nobody could replace his dad and neither he, nor his mom had ever really tried. His mother had, in some ways, sworn off men. Now that he was out of the house, he wondered if she got lonely without him around.
"You have a daughter?" Ryuu asked, raising an eyebrow in question. She was also with his mother. That could be both good and bad. "Well...depending on how old she is, mother could have started teaching her kendo, I suppose...that could keep them both occupied enough that my mom wouldn't just forget she was there..." Ryuu mused. It was likely that his mother had thought of that and had the young girl start with the basic kendo techniques. Rika didn't actually teach any of her students the Shigure Soen Ryu and as far as Ryuu knew, Makoto didn't know of the existence of the perfect and invincible sword style. Gavril must have known that it's the style he used, but Ryuu never used it during competition because it worked best with flames.
Namimori? Safe place to raise a child? Partially, yes...but if you considered the amount of mafioso who frequented the town...that assumption was slightly up in the air. Namimori was a main hub for mafioso after Tsunayoshi took over and had some of her operations moved there. The Varia had a base set up here and even CEDEF had an office here now. There were still other mafias here that would taken advantage of their presence as well as Yakuza who didn't like mafioso stepping on their turf. It was a nice enough area to raise a child in, as long as he stayed away from the mafia. Ryuu and Rika, aside. He was technically under their protection, for the most part as a friend of the family...but Ryuu didn't really want to think about what would happen if Makoto nosed around.
"It's pretty safe...you know, besides katana toting maniacs attacking people in the streets." Ryuu rolled his shoulders thoughtfully in a shrug. "Silvia teaches English at the high school and I work in the hospital here. It's been built up over the years...grandpa used to tell me about what a quiet town it used to be." Until the mafia stepped in, but he left that unsaid.
It didn't take them long to reach the dojo in which Ryuu's mother both resided, had her sushi and ramen shop, as well as taught her classes. It was later in the evening, so there were only a couple students, of the older variety dotted here and there, either eating dinner before they went home or still practicing their drills. Ryuu greeted a couple of the drill-runners and offered pointers as well as fixed any mistakes he saw at that time. They also pointed out his mother's location to him - the training hall.
Rika Yamamoto didn't let her age get the best of her. She was in her mid to late thirties, but could still move and had the body of when she was a teenager. She'd kept her form, even after having a son, a feat many women found themselves envious of and it was a form that many teenage boys and young men found themselves liking.
She shared her father's easy-going smile as well as his raven-black locks of hair. Red eyes gleamed rather pleasantly as she held a wood bokken in her right hand, explaining and demonstrating a basic drill to her friend's daughter.
