The Simon familgia began under the leadership of Cozart Simon. Cozart was one of Giotto's best friends of the time and the one who even suggested that he create a vigilante group to fight against the injustices of the world. The Shimon of the era were the Vongola's closest allies. However, not all was bright and sunny from the Vongola end of their alliance - Daemon Spade, Giotto's mist guardian, betrayed the Simon of the time. Luckily for them, Giotto learned of his treachery before it was too late. Giotto and Cozart went into a pact that neither of their families would ever be enemies and it was sealed by the Vindice. Tenth Generation of both families began in friendship, meddled with conflict and then ended with a friendship stronger than ever. Tsunayoshi and Enma were from similar circumstances and personalities and they were the best of friends for a long time.
After Enma's retirement just a few years after Tsunayoshi's retirement, his son took over the family as Neo Simon Secondo. Just like Tsunayoshi's heir, his son was a powerful leader to the Simon for many years. He seemed to change, however, after the births of his sons. Not unlike Tsunayoshi's own father, who threw himself into his mafia family over his own blood family, Enma's son threw himself into caring for his children more than he did his family. When it came down to naming heir, he named his youngest son heir, even though his eldest son was nearing adulthood and had been waiting for him to name him heir since he had turned into a teenager. The sudden overlooking of himself, and the guardians, that he had chosen for himself, because it was a given by the entire family and the outside world that he would indeed have been next in line for leadership. Something in him snapped at the blatant favoritism and Enma's eldest grandchild lead a coup against his father and succeeded in taking over the family.

Guidelines
Many of the Fake Guardians were named as Guardians, before being replaced by a younger generation of Simon members. Many of the Fakes have dealt with disappointment, or worse, from their parents at their loss of position and many have been affected by their loss of position.The real Simon guardians on the other hand, have very little knowledge to their blood-right. They were banished along with their families when they were young children for fear they would be allied with the true leader of the Simon. Their flames were sealed along with their memories, however; under great emotional stress or even because their seals are weakening, their flames will return. However, many of their memories will remain locked. These true guardians live without the knowledge of the mafia or who they are. Many of them live perfectly normal lives with their parents, if said parents weren't part of the previous generation or were not at the Simon compound at the time. Some of them may have even been placed in adoptive families and foster homes by the Simon after their banishment.
