Elijah's past isn't one filled with sugar and rainbows and one could tell by the way the man will react when you ask him, as it could have been the worst/best thing that could have happened to him. You see, Elijah was born in a small town in Israel with his parents, they had no ties to the mafia or anything of that sort so it was rather quiet and dull for the family, and that dullness lasted about ten years until his fate took the worst. It appeared that a group took notice of the young Elijah and through some means became aware that Elijah possessed a large amount of dying will flames and potential, so during one day when his parents hired a sitter to take care of the boy, while they went out for the night and that's when they striked. They stormed the house and killed the sitter to get their hands on Elijah, and took him way to a facility somewhere in Italy, that was the last time Elijah had seen his family.
The facility he was taken too was rather large and seemed to be so far out that it's very presence was hidden from the world's eye. This facility was own by a mafia family who's purpose was to seek out children of potential of dying will flames, and kidnap them in-order to train them to become masters in the art of assassination, and efficient hitmen that they could sell to the highest bidder. When Elijah was brought to the facility they branded him with a tattoo on his right shoulder saying that he was number 0126 and that number was now considered his name to the mafia members that run the facility. The children were treated like objects instead of people and were often subjected abuse, the boy thought that he was gonna die in this hole and spent most of his time crying, and when he couldn't cry anymore that is when he would sleep. However this crying subjected him to abuse from some of the surveyors, and as he lied on the ground covered in bruises he heard a voice call out to the very men that assaulted him, followed by the sounds of someone getting punched. A boy slightly older then Elijah then approached him and was covered in the same kind of bruises and reached out a hand and asked if he was alright.
That boy's name was Dante and he was about two years older then Elijah, and the two quickly became friends and helped each other during the hard times in the future with Dante was the leader of the two. They spent about four years in that hell, and during the course of their time they were forced to learn to use their flames through harsh training and at the peak of those four years the unthinkable happened. The kids (now teens) were force to fight each other to the death to prove that they were the best, and this thought scared Eli to the bone, however Dante reassured Elijah that everything was gonna be alright. As it turned out Dante and few more of the captives managed to hatch a plan that would let the group escape, all they needed was a distraction which he asked Elijah to provide during his fight in which the teen agreed with no hesitation at all, as he knew that if Dante said it was gonna work, it would.
The fight between the two teens took place in a rather empty parking garage of sorts, judging by all of the bullet holes and blood that stained the floor and some of the walls, however after a quick breath Eli cleared his mind and set his mind on his one goal. Make one bloody distraction. For the beginning of the battle they only had their flames, however there were a few weapons scattered about, some blades and guns however Eli had his mind set on one in particular. As he was bombarded with a mixture of lightning flames and bullets Eli continued to find his desired object, and after a bit of searching he found two cylinders and smiled. He quickly picked them up and tossed one of them in the middle of the arena, and by taking quick aim he launched his dark purple flames at the canister melding with the smoke inside before it quickly expanded in a thick haze covering the area, which caused inquiry from the supervisors however before they could react another canister was launched at them not before the same effect happened to them and during their coughing and confusing Eli heard the sound of gunshots followed by a familiar voice,"Sarah! Let's go!" Elijah then ran towards the source of his best friend's voice and he was tossed a pistol from Dante who them prompted them to "Get the hell out of here!"
So Eli, Dante and the small group of teens ran through the hallways and shot down any adversity that tried to stop them as their goal was the exit and no one was gonna stop them. When they made their way to the garage, there were several vans and trucks parked and the group quickly picked the nearest van that could hold the group and the one who chose to attempt to drive was Dante with Eli taking shotgun and with some delay in figuring out how to actually drive and such, the group burned rubber while some hitmen rained bullets on the van in an attempt to stop them. The van didn't stop as they just wanted to get as far as the hell away from the facility, and they did when the van ran out of gas. That's when the group split up to avoid detection and they all did what they could to hide their identification tattoos which left the two friends on their own, to find a way to civilization and try to figure out where in the world were they. After several hours of walking the two finally made it to a town, and that's where they manged to earn some money through some rather skillful pick-pocketing, and managed to get a decent meal and actual beds to sleep in.
Since then Dante and Elijah traveled place to place in order to get more info on the organisation that kidnapped them and also spent a majority of their time looking over their shoulders in fear that the group might return to haunt them or worst. They were on the road until Elijah was about nineteen, and they still had no luck on finding any intelligence on the bastards that took them away from their families and normal futures. Their horrors did become real when the two were driving across Japan in search of an possible lead they received, but all they got was disaster, because while Dante drove their car(which the two had "borrowed") a large hissing sound was heard and before they could react there was a loud crashing sound and the car exploded and launched to the side. They were set up.
As the car rested on it's side the two men were still dazed by the impact before they quickly realized that they were being attacked and the two quickly escaped the wreckage with a pistol at hand and prepared for the worst, however the worst was rather terrifying. There were about four men that looked like they were Dante's age and they pointed their firearms at the duo, as it turned out these four were some of the kids that escaped with the two, which meant that they were captured again and now working for the same group that put them through that hell. As Eli raised his pistol towards one of them, his hand was shaking as he didn't want to hurt the people that risked their lives with the two to get a chance of freedom. Dante must have known about Elijah's hesitation and asked him to hand over his gun, which confused Eli but Dante didn't care as he then demanded the pistol. When Eli finally agreed Dante then told him to run, to get as far away as possible but Eli once again refused but then Dante pointed his firearm at him and said to not make him repeat himself, he could handle this.
Left with no other choice Eli held back his tears and he told his best friend that the two should meet up at the nearest town in which Dante agreed and the teen made a break for it, and not even a few seconds later he heard gunshots followed by the sounds of various flames colliding, however he didn't turn back. He just ran like how his friend told him, and his tears ran on his cheeks he was scared that the two weren't able to get out of this unscathed. After what seemed like forever Elijah finally made it to the nearest town and their plan was if they ever separated they would group up at the cheapest Motel under fake names, and Elijah's was Sarah Elli and that is just what he did. He had already a first-aide set bought and ready for when his partner returned, however thirty minutes passed, then an hour which then became three hours and his friend still didn't show up. This prompted Eli to panic and when a set of headlights shined in their window the man quickly jumped up and looked outside, only to see a group of men that looked just like those that attacked the two earlier and this caused Eli to snap. He reached for his gun and without warning fired a barrage of cloud covered bullets at the hitmen which managed to strike a few however this resulted in a firefight between the two. As the bullets flew across the motel room and the parking lot Elijah got more and more infuriated at his situation and in a rather rash decision he kicked down the motel room's door and emptied his clip and even when the clip was void of real bullets he continued to pull the trigger with a rather determined look on his face, as now bullets of cloud flames shot out to kill the rest of the hitmen. Moments after sirens were heard in the distance, likely called from the sounds of gunshots, but Elijah didn't care as he just dropped to his knees in the parking lot and just punched the cement as tears fell.
The police surrounded the teen in an instant and he was put into custody under murder charges and disturbing the peace, Eli didn't care however he did ask if a man named Dante was in their custody as well, and they simply said no. Now sat a broken Elijah in a holding cell until matters were settled, however someone walked over to his cell and tapped the bars, which prompted him to look up at the one in-front of him. He introduced himself as Arashi and he seemed intrigued on Eli's circumstances, and asked for his side of the story, at first he thought the man would think he was crazy, however the opposite happened as Arashi believed him and said that Eli had promise and that if he worked for his group he would help him find his best friend and possibly the ones that started this whole mess. At first Elijah was hesitant but the moment that he said he would help him find his friend he agreed.
After some political troubles, Elijah was released and joined the Varia squad and had to remain under their bosses' watch as per their agreement but he didn't care just as long as he held up his end. That was about six years now and Elijah had gotten used to his fellow members of the Varia and there manners of dealing with things.
• When he joined the Varia he had asked Kaoru to give him a tattoo to help hide his identivication number, in which it is now a guardian angel like design praying for what he says, "A better future."
